Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Business Development will manage Humentum’s business development activities within their region as part of the Humentum Consultancy Services (HCS) team. Delivering high impact training and consultancy projects with NGO clients and donors are critical components to Humentum’s approach for developing an accountable, equitable and resilient global development and humanitarian sector. We aspire to be the “go to” solutions provider in our sector.


This role will cultivate Humentum’s presence and engagement with a range of donors and clients in their region, with an emphasis on growing revenue and demonstrating impact from these relationships. You will work as part of a client-centric global team, supporting other regions as needs arise. This role will work closely with our marketing team to expand our lead generation efforts, and cross-functionally with the membership, client engagement managers, learning and product development teams, as well as finance, to deliver client-centric solutions.

· Creative and proven business-to-business lead generation, networking and sales skills with a drive to grow a portfolio of clients, revenue and impact;

· Well-developed networking and relationship skills in order to nurture our client network through sharing Humentum thought leadership and applying social selling skills;

· Client-centric proposal development skills, including problem analysis, solution design, and delivery;

· Disciplined and organized to achieve high quality growth-oriented outcomes;

· Highly motivated, energetic, organized, positive and inspiring approach to work—in a 100% virtual and global team.


Key Responsibilities

· Proactively grow and manage a regular pipeline of business development opportunities to exceed the regions’ annual revenue budget through:

  • outbound lead generation;
  • inbound lead follow-up and management;
  • problem analysis and identification with the client;
  • meeting with Humentum Associate Consultants to map appropriate consultants to client needs;
  • designing an appropriate, client-centric training or consulting solution with engagement from other Humentum stakeholders;
  • developing and presenting proposals that meet client needs; and
  • conducting negotiations with the client that lead to executed contracts.

· Use Humentum’s client relationship, project management, and marketing tools to keep client and proposal information up to date and accessible for all Humentum stakeholders.

· Collaborate with our marketing team to engage Humentum members and clients in the region to create awareness of Humentum services.

· Collaborate with the Client Engagement Managers and others at Humentum, as needed, to ensure a high quality client solution, including but not limited to:

  • participating in internal and client-facing project kick-off meetings;
  • participating, as needed, in deliverable reviews with clients at key meetings and milestones;
  • resolving client concerns and issues as needed;
  • asking for testimonials and internal and external client referrals; and
  • maintaining long term client relationships after the completion of individual projects.


QUALIFICATIONS

· Proven sales, business development or customer account management experience in professional services, training or consultancy required; including demonstrated year-on-year growth in sales performance against targets

· Proven relationship management experience with non-profit clients highly desirable;

· Knowledge of, or experience with, managing and delivering USAID, FDCO, EO and other bi-lateral or foundation donor programs, or building relationships with implementers of those donor programs, highly desirable;

· Strong professional networks in the [geography]’s global development and humanitarian community preferred;

· Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM software or equivalent;

· Proficiency in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.


Job Related Information

· This position is a remote, home-based position. You must possess both the proven experience and the home office environment to work virtually: reliable connection to high speed internet, appropriate environment for leading and participating in virtual meetings with video enabled.

· Ability to travel up to 20% as needed, including internationally.

Compensation
