The Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) is seeking administrative assistant in Los Angeles to join our Operations Team, who are responsible for keeping our organization running smoothly so that we can fulfill our mission.

About ACCE

ACCE is a multi-issue, membership-based community organization building the power and voice of poor and working families across the state of California. With offices in 6 cities, ACCE works in local communities and statewide to fight for economic, racial and social justice. ACCE’s grassroots approach prioritizes training and empowering community residents from across the state to wage effective bottom-up campaigns that prioritize community action and direct action, as well as policy work and lobbying.

We seek an individual with passion to work with our staff and community members to keep our systems functioning to support our work – someone with an exceptional attention to detail who is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, team oriented environment. The ideal candidate would have both experience working with a community organization like ours (either as paid staff or as a member/volunteer) and have experience working in an administrative capacity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle various human resource duties such as creating and maintaining employee files.
  • Assist in the processing of payroll, including processing timesheets.
  • Prepare check requests for employee reimbursements and bills, with proper coding, on a weekly basis. Enter
  • approved check requests into Quick Books to be paid.
  • Coordinate travel, lodging and space reservation for meetings involving staff from multiple offices.
  • Process dues and donations for deposit, recording information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Handle general clerical duties including copying, faxing, filing and mailings.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


Key Qualifications – Administrative Assistant I:

  • Prior experience in an administrative support capacity in a nonprofit environment is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office required, including basic competency with Microsoft excel. Advanced excel skills and / or experience with Quick books will be given preference
  • Strong typing and data-entry skills required.
  •  Ability to maintain composure while balancing multiple priorities in a busy, fast-paced environment is required.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail required.
  • Sound organizational skills to manage and prioritize work subject to deadlines in a dynamic and changing
  • environment, as an individual and as a member of a team required.·       
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
