POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

SEO utilizes marketing and communications to further our mission in several ways. The Communications Assistant role is a vital addition to the current SEO Communications Team. The Communications Assistant will be responsible for supporting the team with all communications endeavors, with a focus on social media and digital marketing, content management and development, and event support. The responsibilities include:

Social Media + Content Management

  • Develop content and schedule social media posts for all of SEO’s accounts.
  • Social media engagement: like, follow, and comment on relevant topics.
  • Content curation for all SEO photos and videos, including organizing in a searchable fashion.
  • Manage updates needed on print and digital collateral.
  • Support in the creation of promotional newsletters and e-mail campaigns

Digital Marketing + Branding

  • Support website edits as requested + identify opportunities for growth.
  • Write blog posts featuring SEO participants and supporters to showcase our impact and tell the stories of our community.
  • Support updating of SEO’s external profiles on sites including Charity Navigator, GuideStar, and Glassdoor.
  • Organization-wide media relations support, including building media lists, drafting pitches, and reviewing relevant industry-wide news.
  • Manage news and events sections of SEO website.

This is a temporary, remote position, as SEO’s offices remain closed until September 2021.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Major in Marketing, Communications, or a similar field
  • Junior/senior in college or 1-2 years' experience
  • Proven desire to work in the nonprofit sector
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks at once and is a self-starter who can work independently
  • Applicants should have high attention to detail and strong writing skills
  • Comfortable communicating with all levels of SEO team staff members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite/ understanding of Zoom/Microsoft Teams to communicate with team
