PathCheck Operations Director

PathCheck Foundation seeks a mission-driven, part-time Operations Director. This permanent position is for immediate hire and virtual, so candidates can be based anywhere, but they must be eligible to work in the US. 

About PathCheck Foundation

PathCheck Foundation is a nonprofit founded by visionary scientist Ramesh Raskar, PhD. at MIT in March 2020 to respond to the global pandemic. Today, PathCheck is dedicated to creating policies, standards, and open source software to contain Covid-19, revitalize the economy, and preserve individual privacy and liberty. Our long-term vision is to build a multi-initiative, international nonprofit that transforms public health with applied innovation and analysis at the intersection of public health, technology, and privacy. 

PathCheck sponsors a range of initiatives at the intersection of technology and public health. We have a large volunteer base, with hundreds of active volunteers around the world and a strong track record mobilizing the talents of leading academics and seasoned professionals from the software and healthcare industries. 

Our exposure notification technology is being implemented for citizens in 5 US states/territories (Minnesota, Louisiana, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico) as well as Cyprus. In addition, we are actively developing new technologies to support the global roll-out of Covid-19 vaccinations. We also have initiatives in public policy, data science, research, and analysis. 

Operations Director Position

We are searching for a part-time Operations Director to manage all aspects of PathChecks administration and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with nonprofit administration and operations including financial management, contract management, and working with IT, legal, accounting, audit, and other vendors that enable the smooth operation of a nonprofit organization. Initially this position will report to the Chair of the Board. When the organization hires a new Executive Director (ED), this position will report to the ED. 

Responsibilities 

• Manage all operations and administration of the non profit including bookkeeping and finances, contracting and vendors, legal, IT, volunteer on-boarding and off-boarding.
• Managing all human resources activities for the organization. 
• Coordinate work with outsourced vendors covering IT, legal, accounting, tax, audit, payroll, insurance, and other services necessary for the administration of the organization. 
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial and operating reports to the Board. 
• Proactively identify ways to improve the operations of the organization and ensure successful, high quality administration. 
• Manage grant administration including supporting the submission of grants, and ensuring that grant reports are properly filed on a timely basis.
• Work with volunteers who are engaged in supporting operational aspects of the organization and foster a collaborative environment that encourages positive volunteer engagement.
• Communicate any operational issues that require executive intervention to the Executive director and/or Board on a timely basis. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit operations, HR, and Finance 
• Experience managing vendors and service providers 
• Knowledge of nonprofit financial management standards and practices
• Experience with procurement, contracting, and vendor management 
• Understanding of non-profit HR
• A mission-driven passion and strong work ethic 
• Proven ability to learn and use modern, SaaS business systems (e.g. Google Workspace, Bill.com, Slack, signNow, etc.) 
• Detail oriented focus on operational and administrative excellence
• Strong communication and project management skills 
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse global network of vendors, staff, and volunteers

Location and Schedule

PathCheck is a 100% remote-work organization, so this position can be based anywhere, but you must be eligible to work in the US. We are looking for someone to work 10-15 hours per week on a flexible, self-directed schedule.

Compensation

This permanent position will be paid at an hourly rate depending on level of experience with a guaranteed minimum of 8 hours per week and an expected maximum of 15 hours per week on the busiest weeks. The position is not eligible for benefits, but will include paid time off for vacation and personal leave.
