Philadelphia Unemployment Project (PUP) and The Unemployment Information Center (UIC) is hiring a Bilingual Housing Counselor. The UIC is a non-profit, HUD-approved housing counseling agency serving primarily lower income and unemployed Philadelphians.
The housing counselor will provide individual counseling and group education and other support to potential and existing homeowners through pre- and post-purchase counseling. This includes default and delinquency counseling, loss mitigation counseling, predatory lending counseling, rental counseling, and first-time homebuyer counseling and education.
The Counselor will assist in involving clients in efforts by the Philadelphia Unemployment Project to win reforms in economic justice programs, such as foreclosure prevention and other issues as they develop.
The responsibilities include discussing options with clients and making recommendations on credit, debt and housing issues within the City and State funded programs. The counselor will develop a budget and action plan into case management system RX, enter/update case information, and create and update client files on a regular basis.
Qualifications: BA preferred. Bilingual English/ Spanish required. HUD-certified preferred or must be able to pass the exam within six months. Willing to obtain other certificates to maintain professional status and billing authorization from funding sources. Experience in housing counseling or other social services provision preferred. Computer literacy and ability to learn new technology required.

HYBRID – 3-4 days in office, 1-2 remote
