A fast-growing nonprofit conservation organization seeks a talented and enthusiastic Director of Finance to oversee the organization’s accounting and finance functions.

 Founded in 2002, the TRCP is the largest coalition of conservation organizations in the country, uniting and amplifying the voices of sportsmen and sportswomen by convening hunting and fishing groups, conservation organizations, and outdoor businesses to a common purpose. The organization now includes 60-partner groups, scores of businesses, and more than 100,000 individuals all united around Roosevelt’s conservation legacy. In pursuit of its work, the TRCP has earned a strong reputation for providing nonpartisan policy advocacy—in Washington D.C. and across the nation—to strengthen broad-based conservation efforts, protect wildlife and fish habitat, and ensure public access to natural resources.

The Director of Finance will report directly to the Chief Communications and Operating Officer but will also work closely with the CEO, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Conservation Officer.

Duties include:

  • Guiding the organization’s financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive team and board of directors.
  • Working with center directors to draft and manage grant and program budgets.
  • Developing financial contingency plans.
  • Analyzing processes and systems to streamline and automate financial operations and make them more efficient.
  • Keeping the organization in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and GAAP.
  • Tracking and paying accounts payable.
  • Working with the development team to manage accounts receivable. 
  • Reconciling bank statements.
  • Conducting month-end close.
  • Providing information to external auditors and tax preparers.
  • Keeping financial information and plans confidential and secure.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education
  • At least five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in overseeing the accounting and finances of a non-profit organization
  • Experience in tracking grant budgets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commitment to meeting deadlines
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Love for the outdoors

The position reports to the Chief Communications Officer . This is a full–time position with a salary range of $90,000 – $110,000 commensurate to experience; a generous benefit package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
