We are looking for just the right person to take our Hire Autism employment program from local to national beginning this year. The job requires a results driven person with a passion for the mission and the willingness to knock on doors—and possibly knock a few down—to help persons with autism find meaningful employment.

Hire Autism is founded on the core belief that persons with autism are capable of working in a variety of jobs and work settings. It is built around an online jobs portal,, expressly designed for ease of access and use by persons with autism. Within the context of the website, jobseekers with autism can engage with employers willing to hire them in an autism-friendly, online setting.

Hire Autism has been operating as a demonstration project in Northern Virginia since April 2017. The demonstration will conclude in June 2018, and phased expansion to three to five locations in the U.S. will commence in July 2018. The expansion goal is to have 80-100 Hire Autism locations that support 5,000 jobseekers with autism in their job searches annually by June 2022.

As part of that plan, OAR will introduce its Hire Autism Advocate program this year. Hire Autism Advocates will be volunteers with extensive workplace/employment experience, who will serve as mentors to guide our jobseekers through their job search to successful employment. The Manager, Hire Autism Outreach, will play a lead role in implementing this program to include developing an online resource to serve as a training and orientation center for advocates, a meeting place for advocates and jobseekers, and a continuing, supporting resource for persons with autism who are employed.

The Manager, Hire Autism Outreach, has lead responsibility for promoting the Hire Autism initiative. Working closely with the OAR team, volunteers, advocates, community partners, potential employers, and sponsors, the Manager will develop and implement a multi-faceted approach to get at least 200 persons with autism hired in a variety of jobs by the end of 2019. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
