About Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) and the Program Coordinator Role:

ERA is a national civil rights organization dedicated to protecting and expanding economic and educational access and opportunities for women, girls, and people with marginalized gender identities. Since its founding in 1974, ERA has been on the frontlines of advancing gender justice in employment and education through a combination of impact litigation, policy advocacy, public education, and direct legal services. ERA takes an inter-sectional approach to tackling sexual harassment and violence, pay inequity, and other forms of gender discrimination and inequality while bringing visibility to the experiences and voices of the people we represent.

Under the supervision of the Attorney overseeing and leading ERA’s direct services programs, the Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing program coordination and operational support for ERA’s current two direct legal services programs:

  • Advice & Counseling (A&C): Provides brief legal advice and information, limited representation, and other advocacy to workers and students on matters of gender discrimination, unfair pay, sexual harassment and violence, and related civil rights issues.
  • End Sexual Violence in Education (ESVE): Places student survivors of campus sexual assault for representation services provided by participating attorneys in ERA’s ENOUGH Pro Bono Network.

In addition to the above primary responsibilities, the Program Coordinator will also assist the Legal Department with facilitative and meeting support services and will oversee administrative support provided by non-Legal ERA team members. As with all of the positions at ERA, the Program Coordinator will work within a team framework providing critical support to ensure the fulfillment of ERA’s mission and vision. This is a full-time, exempt salaried position based in the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area, working remotely from home until further notice.

  • Program administration and annual planning: Update and maintain work plans, job responsibilities/verticals, system and telecom support, phone/email scripts/templates, and training guides - and draft the annual operating program budget and manage program expenditures accordingly.
  • Program assessment and strategy: Work with supervising attorney(s) to conduct assessment of program efficiency and effectiveness and alignment with current strategic plan, contribute to strategic plan revisions and new iterations, recommend solutions, and lead execution of approved program changes, make necessary updates to related policies, procedures, and protocols.
