About Advance Native Political Leadership Action Fund:

Advance Native Political Leadership Action Fund (Advance) was founded to address the historical traumas, present realities, and future prospects of Native peoples in the United States. Advance is the only national Native American-led organization working to address the vast disparity and unique barriers that exist for Indigenous people in U.S. politics. We are focused on increasing the visibility and representation of Native Americans, especially Indigenous women, in elected offices at all levels by recruiting and training emerging candidates and leaders, and building and connecting national and state-based networks for political organizing. By expanding Native representation in elected office, we actively shape a future where our government is truly reflective of all our communities. Native peoples are ready to serve in leadership with talents rooted in values that make our ancestors proud.

About the role:

Advance Native Political Leadership Action Fund is looking for a dynamic Program Director to help lead our organization into its next stage of growth. We are looking for an engaging, detail-oriented leader who has experience both building and executing programs and leading engaged teams, and who can represent Advance’s vision in a vast array of community and professional spaces.

Are you a natural connector of people? We are looking for someone who is excited by building strong relationships within and across communities; someone with a creative eye in strengthening coalitions and strategic partnerships. You thrive networking in new spaces, and have a natural curiosity about people and the ways communities are interconnected. If you enjoy impactful work with an identity-affirming team, please consider applying

To be successful in this role you should have the following experience:

  • 5+ years of large scale project management experience with a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to take a big picture vision and make it a reality from start to finish.
  • 5 to 7 years leading equity and inclusion initiatives within diverse teams, with a demonstrated people-focused, collaborative approach geared towards growth, development, and impact.
  • Demonstrated experience building and utilizing strong strategic relationships in a variety of spaces from coalitions to partnerships to staff to move work forward in an inclusive way.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results; think strategically, proactively and creatively.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be a team player with experience working in fast-paced, evolving environments that require lots of collaboration and an all hands on deck approach.
  • Demonstrated experience and a high-level of comfort speaking to a variety of audiences, specifically to media, with confidence and authenticity, always demonstrating deep mission and values alignment.
  • Ability to creatively implement big visions for project work, able to work independently and as part of a team with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Excitement and a vision for your personal growth, growing the Advance team, and expanding the work of the organization with a deep cultural awareness and focus.
  • Experience working with Native American communities and tribal organizations.

We hope you bring one or more of these skills:

  • Strong experience working on political campaigns or with candidates directly or through project based work.
  • Experience developing and/ or executing event or training programs, both logistical and high-level.
  • Experience leading organizations and teams at an executive level.
  • Experience raising money for organizations (i.e. small dollar, grant writing, etc.)

After 6 months, success in this role looks like:

  • Solid infrastructure development across all programs.
  • Development and initial execution of a training program focused on training Native American leaders to run for office.
  • Growing and strengthening relationships among staff, teams, coalition partners, and allies within State and National networks, specifically training leaders on how to work successfully in coalition and partnership.
  • A vision and plan for organizational and program growth for the next 3+ years.
  • Successfully representing the organization as one of the main media spokespeople.
