Please note: this is a temporary part-time position (approximently 10-12 months).

Bethesda Project’s permanent and supportive housing sites house residents in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units and provide social service supports to individuals with histories of drug and alcohol addiction and/or mental health issues. The Case Manager is responsible for working closely with the Program Coordinator and Residential Aide staff to ensure that the residents are safe and are making healthy choices.

Reports to: Program Coordinator

General Responsibilities:
  • Assess each resident’s capacity to perform daily living tasks.
  • Identify outside services and make appropriate referrals based on resident needs.
  • Assist residents to maintain important relationships and serve as an advocate with their service providers, e.g. primary care provider, MH/MR community center, drug/alcohol treatment facilities, VA services, legal services and nutritional programs.
  • Assist residents in acquiring needed entitlements such as Social Security, SSI, DPA, VA benefits, and health insurance.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the medication monitoring system.
  • Participate in the admissions process for housing applicants.
  • Accompany residents to critical appointments.
  • Assist residents during times of crisis, anxiety, apprehension or confusion, offering appropriate aid and support.
Skill/Educational Requirements:
  • At least two years experience in direct service or ministry to the homeless and/ or mentally ill, preferred
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required from an accredited 4-year institution. Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or a related field is preferred
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
  • Commitment to social justice
  • Team oriented disposition
