Organization Description

Founded in 1988, the Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center (LYRIC) provides supports and services to over 500 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning (LGBTQQ) and allied youth (annually), 24 years old and under. LYRIC’s mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career trainings, health promotion, and leadership development with LGBTQQ youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities. The organization has a budget of approximately $4.2 million as well as a youth-adult team of approximately 30 staff members, and various youth interns. In alignment with LYRIC’s Strategic Plan, the organization envisions: (1) schools that are transformed into safe, inclusive environments where LGBTQQ students can thrive and (2) a comprehensive network of community support to ensure successful progression into adulthood for Transitional Age LGBTQQ Youth. Position Summary

The Data and Evaluation Coordinator will support the organization’s data management effort under the supervision of the Data and Evaluation Director. The Data and Evaluation Coordinator will be a critical member of this team, serving as the point of contact for staff in their day-to-day data collection activities and data related inquiries. This position will support staff to effectively navigate LYRIC’s data management system, Apricot by Social Solutions, by providing written and/or verbal instructions. This is a new position that requires an individual with the technical experience and interpersonal competencies needed to cultivate and model a culture of learning and continuous improvement in service of LYRIC’s mission.


Primary responsibilities include 50% database management and data quality assurance, 35% support and training around system navigation, workflow, and data policy and procedure for staff, and 15% assistance in producing program deliverables and outcomes for reporting purposes. 

Data Quality Assurance

  1. Monitor data quality reports and communicate with the appropriate staff to update data records by merging, modifying, adding, and/or deleting data as needed
  2. Enter data on behalf of programmatic staff as needed or as required in order to perform other duties
  3. Partner with the program managers to ensure that data (e.g., case notes, activities, assessments, etc.) are entered correctly and in a timely manner
  4. Assist programmatic staff and leadership in implementation of improvements to data quality
  5.  Assist in planning, tracking, and delivering data quality improvement projects
  6. Assist in building and updating reports used to understand programmatic outputs and outcomes
  7. Develop additional supporting tools using Excel and/or Word Document as needed 

System Administration

  1. Create and maintain user logins
  2. Point of contact for staff to troubleshoot system and/or data related issues
  3. Stay up-to-date regarding features and functionalities as well as concepts driving the development of the agency’s database

Support & Training

  1. Once trained, lead trainings on data workflow, system navigation, and data policy and procedure 
  2. Onboard new staff by scheduling and providing one-on-one training needs
  3. Support and train programmatic staff and managers around programmatic data and information
  4. Maintain and reinforce data confidentiality

General Support

  1. Attend staff meetings as well as other organizational retreats and gatherings.
  2. Engage with LYRIC youth, staff, and board in organization-wide grassroots fundraising campaigns.
  3. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Two years of experience in system management, data quality assurance, or non-profit program management
  2. Proficiency with database administration (Social Solutions-Apricot, preferred), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Apps
  3. Demonstrate ability to handle confidential data professionally and appropriately
  4. Ability to provide training on data collection methods, and use of computers/mobile devices for data entry by staff
  5. Passion for and commitment to working with LGBTQQ youth and marginalized communities
  6. Exposure to and commitment to learning more about positive youth development framework, youth-adult partnership frameworks and knowledge of LGBTQQ youth issues
  7. Highly consistent and self-motivated; able to take initiative, manage, and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
  8. Excellent facilitation and communication skills (verbal, written, data visualization)
  9. Action-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  10. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  11. Ability to seek out, encourage, and exchange appreciative as well as developmental feedback with colleagues and supervisor
  12. Ability to identify and communicate needs for support
  13. Ability to address challenges directly by de-escalating conflict and fostering mutual understanding
  14. Commitment to ongoing self-improvement and professional development


$26.93 per hour. 20 hours per week.
