About the Role

Under the direction of the Senior Director for Institutional Relations & Development Communications, the Senior Digital Fundraising Manager will create and implement a digital fundraising strategy that will annually yield more than $2M in donations and grow an existing giving program of 4,000 individuals to specific goals annually. This person also plays a critical role in digital donor stewardship and digital strategies to identify and cultivate prospects for higher-level giving.

We expect that this position will be remote, unless a candidate is already based within commuting distance to RepresentUs’s headquarters in Northampton, MA. The majority of RepresentUs staff works in a place other than Northampton, and remote work is well-supported by internal systems and processes. 

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 153 (OPEIU). RUEF voluntarily recognized the union recently and collective bargaining is just getting underway. 

What You'll Be Doing

Digital Fundraising (85%)

  • The Common Wealth monthly giving program:
  • Lead RepresentUs’s successful monthly giving program, The Common Wealth, growing the existing program to yield more than $2M annually.
  • Drive automated email upsell campaigns to recruit new donors to monthly giving. 
  • Maintain visibility on mobilization and marketing messaging to recommend strategically including or excluding Common Wealth donors, ensuring they receive a cohesive organizational story over the year.
  • Collaborate with Director of Stewardship to plan and execute 2-3 virtual (or in-person, if strategic and COVID-advisable) events per year specifically for Common Wealth members.


  • One-time donor renewal & increased giving:
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Mobilization teams to raise $600,000 or more annually and grow that figure to at least $1M annually by 2024.
  • Create a solicitation strategy and process for donor retention and renewal for donors giving $5,000 or less annually. 
  • Collaborate closely with program, organizing, and marketing teams to identify digital fundraising opportunities that will motivate giving.
  • Manage online store, including managing vendor relationship, leading plans to refresh offerings throughout the year, and report on store performance.


  • Stewardship & impact reporting:
  • Manage creation of monthly and quarterly digital stewardship properties for RepresentUs’s three giving communities, as well as campaign-specific impact reports for campaign donors.


  • Responsibilities across the buckets above:
  • Craft the overall digital fundraising strategy. Plans will include, but will not be limited to, special campaigns and annual appeals. 
  • Create and execute plans to improve digital donor retention, reactivation of lapsed digital donors, revenue per donor, converting existing one-time donors to monthly donors, and the growth of our monthly giving program and small dollar one time donors.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing channel owners to improve digital interface and online platform for donors through data-optimized donation pages, donation asks in social media, donation asks via email, donation asks via text, and emerging channels.
  • Write and edit persuasive email fundraising content that maximizes digital revenue and donor retention.
  • Design and run short- and long-term tests to optimize and grow our email fundraising program.
  • Monitor email fundraising performance and analyze test results.
  • Proofread and load email content in CMS.
  • Create segmentation and targeting plans for email, text, and other channels.


Department & Organization Support & Coordination (15%)

  • Work as a part of the overall development team to execute strategies and achieve annual departmental goals. 
  • Align across departments to implement brand voice and current program talking points. 
  • Assist during organization-wide initiatives like the annual American Democracy Summit.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to design and grow fundraising programs
  • Exceptional persuasive writing skills
  • Experience writing rapid-response emails for a strong brand voice
  • Experience managing external-facing content in CMS, including basic HTML markup & troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to design and execute audience segmentation strategies to meet campaign goals, including communicating segmenting to other staff
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into clear, concise communication tailored to different audiences
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing outside vendor relationships
  • Mid-level expertise designing and implementing testing to optimize fundraising 
  • Commitment to relationship-based fundraising, as expressed through large campaigns
  • Mid-level understanding of CRMs as used for fundraising
  • Nice to have: Basic statistical analysis skills, especially related to predictive modeling
