Position: Executive Director

Shepherd’s Center of Fairfax-Burke and South County, is a 501(c)3 non-profit,

with a mission to promote independent living through programs and services for

older adults living in the local community. 

Description The Executive Director’s position provides an opportunity

to lead an organization that has an outstanding reputation within the

community, providing programs and services to the older adult population.

Services such as free accompanied medical and shopping transportation.  In addition to transportation services, there

are other services and programs provided by SCFB, including, friendly calls, adult

education classes, exercise classes, speaker luncheons, care giver support, and

others that contribute to the enrichment of lives of mature adults. This

position reports to the chairperson of the 15-member board of directors.

Primary Duties·        

Managing and training the staff, hiring staff, conducting

performance reviews, and all HR activities.  ·        

Leading the fund raising efforts. Primary

activities are the bi-annual appeals, special events, grant applications, and on-line

fund raising. ·        

Attending all Board of Director’s meetings and

Council of Representative meetings. ·        

Serving as the voice and face of the

organization with local government and other community partners.  Attending meetings, and being on teams within

the community to solve local needs. ·        

Maintaining the official records and required

documents of the organization.  Lead on

financial issues with regard to audits, annual tax filings, state and federal

requirements.·        

Interface with outside contractors, and

maintaining files on contracts and agreements.·        

Daily operational oversight of the

transportation program.  Managing a

branch office.·        

Maintenance of data including volunteer hours,

demographics of clients, data requirements of specific grants, and other data

as required.        

Create, produce, edit and distribute the

organization’s newsletter, currently printed and mailed. Also, create other

materials, such as, programs, flyers, brochures, and the annual report.

Qualifications       

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher

educational degree·        

Successful executive level management and

handling HR responsibilities.·        

Financial: 

experience with financial statements, budgets, strategic planning,

taxes, audits·        

Proven track record of development to fund

budget targets.  Grant writing.·        

Comfortable with public speaking and has

excellent writing and verbal skills.·        

Volunteer experience, comfortable working with a

wide range of ages, especially older adults.·        

Technology skills – Microsoft office suites,

social media, e-marketing and more·        

Being passionate and dedicated to a cause.

Position is a salaried position with no fringe benefits.

Some leave provided in the first year.

Monday – Friday 40 hr. work week.  Salary to be determined.  Range $50,000 – $55,000 annually.
