Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants seeks Assistant to Director for Communications and Administration for MAHT and NAHT

 Responsibilities:

Build MAHT/NAHT Communications and Visibility

  • Manage MAHT and NAHT social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Constant Contact, email lists, electronic newsletters and alerts; maintain and update websites)
  • Develop, and distribute membership materials, Action Alerts, and blog posts
  • Assist MAHT member groups with flyers, newsletters, and administrative support, as needed
  • Update and maintain MAHT and NAHT press contact lists, assist in organizing press and visibility events
  • Coordinate MAHT/NAHT Tenant History Project; recruit, supervise graduate student interns to interview tenants, archive and tell MAHT/NAHT stories 

Help sustain and increase administrative capacity for MAHT and NAHT, including:

  • Research and help Director develop foundation grants and reporting to funders
  • Coordinate dues and membership systems for MAHT and NAHT 
  • Help coordinate individual 
  • and corporate solicitation campaigns for MAHT
  • Manage office support systems for MAHT/NAHT
  • Help coordinate MAHT/NAHT archives and record management, including digitalization

Support to MAHT and NAHT Membership

  • Maintain MAHT and NAHT membership databases, including email lists and membership renewals 
  • Assist MAHT and NAHT groups to organize Zoom meetings, conferences, and Webinars
  • Help coordinate MAHT and NAHT membership meetings and events, including annual NAHT conference on Zoom and/or Washington DC 

Implement and update MAHT Strategic Plan

  • Assist Director, Board, and membership in updating MAHT’s Strategic Plan, including transition plan for long term sustainability  

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to social change and empowerment of low- and moderate-income people
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, newsletter/journalism experience helpful
  • Strong social media and computer experience/skills (Facebook, Twitter, website, Constant Contact, Zoom, Voter Action Network (VAN), ThruText, HUB Dialer, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills (Mac and Android, database management, ACCESS, Microsoft Office, Publisher, etc.)
  • Office and record management, archiving experience/skills
  • Experience in planning and coordinating large meetings and events
  • Supervisory and training experience helpful
  • Knowledge of federal housing issues or ability to learn
  • Experience with/knowledge of A*VISTA program helpful
  • Eye for detail 
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to thrive in a small staff team, flexible work schedule, fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel, car helpful
  • Bilingual capacity (Spanish, Creole, Russian, or Chinese) helpful
