ProjectArt is a leading out-of-school and residency program for artists and underserved K-12 students that provides innovative, creative, and effective approaches to teaching and learning through the visual arts in partnership with public libraries in 9 cities from coast to coast. Through the organization's arts education, arts social practice residency in the public library, artists create new artwork inspired by our mission and the library as well as mentor youth who do not receive adequate access to art education in their school. ProjectArt defines underserved as those lacking adequate access to art programs and cultural opportunities because of economic conditions, race or ethnic background, geography, or disability.
ProjectArt has a strong interest in projects that provide students with opportunities to think critically, problem-solve, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively as they mature into young adults.
Summary of Position:
Position will manage and oversee the virtual educational program for the 2020-2021 Detroit students and resident artists. This year, and due to limitations from the coronavirus, ProjectArt has shifted it’s program to a virtual platform and will be open for students and organizations in our 7 Detroit regions from September 2020 to June 30, 2021. The Detroit Director will also lead planning efforts for an upcoming virtual benefit for the organization in April. The position will report to the Head of Programs and Executive Director and will work closely to continue developing the program in its 5th anniversary year in Detroit.
