    Description

    Title:                    Prevention Coordinator

    Reports to:         Chief Operating Officer

    Purpose:              Lead ICASA’s statewide sexual violence prevention initiatives. Provide technical assistance to current, new, and developing ICASA centers in the areas of sexual violence prevention.

    Classification:     Exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Prevention Coordinator will perform duties related to ICASA’s statewide sexual violence prevention initiatives.

    A. Sexual Violence Prevention

    1. Plan, implement, coordinate, and assess the ICASA state-level sexual violence initiatives including Rape Prevention Education (RPE) and other sexual assault prevention grant work plans.
    2. Build relationships with local rape crisis centers and ensure statewide efforts complement and support the work of the local centers. Enhance local center capacity to implement prevention efforts. Include local center staff in state-level initiatives, where possible.
    3. Identify and develop ICASA prevention partnerships at the local, state, and national level.
    4. Attend state-level meetings related to statewide sexual violence prevention initiatives, as assigned.
    5. Assist in the development and management of reports and other deliverables for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) related to the RPE and other sexual violence prevention grant programs including, but not limited to, logic models, work plans, assessments, evaluation/research reports, and annual and quarterly reports.

    B. Training, Technical Assistance, and Monitoring

    1. Deliver and assist with technical assistance or training for ICASA centers in areas related to sexual violence prevention program delivery, trends, and best practices.
    2. Identify training needs for the annual prevention conference, statewide conference, and webinars in collaboration with the ICASA Training Institute. Lead planning and coordination of the annual prevention conference and other trainings, as appropriate.
    3. Assist in monitoring and assessing center services, service reporting, and community networking related to prevention including, but not limited to, center prevention plans and prevention specific funder reporting requirements.

    C. Committees/Meetings

    1. Staff and participate in the Illinois Statewide Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force. Identify new task force partners; work with the chair to prepare meeting agenda; prepare materials; record meeting minutes; complete follow-up tasks as needed.
    2. Participate in all applicable RPE funder and evaluator meetings. Record meeting minutes and complete follow-up tasks as needed.
    3. Participate in CDC and state-required support activities, including trainings, technical assistance sessions, and coalition peer networking calls.
    4. Staff Regional Preventionist meetings. Schedule meetings and secure meeting locations, prepare agendas and materials, record meeting minutes.
    5. Attend Program Committee meetings as needed when agenda items focus on related initiatives.

    D. Other

    1. Perform other duties as may be necessary or assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
    2. Adhere to the philosophy and policies of the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and/or degree in public health is an asset. On-the-job experience in a related field, or comparable combination of career and life experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree.

    Experience:  Completed at least two years of relevant, full-time professional work in a position related to violence prevention and advocacy. Experience with training, partnership development and organizing, logic models, evaluation, and/or project planning is an asset. Knowledge of key primary prevention concepts including health equity, Socio-Ecological Model, and the Public Health Approach is an asset.

    Job Knowledge: Ability to contribute to the work pertinent to sexual assault prevention and assume primary responsibility for planning, implementation, and assessment of ICASA state-level prevention initiatives. Ability to be professional and effective in oral and written communication. Ability to work effectively with local, state, and national partners. Ability to organize information and professionally engage with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Ability to address issues with attention to detail and adjust as deadlines and priorities change. Be familiar with sexual assault issues from a feminist perspective.

    Other Requirements: The accepted candidate will be expected to complete ICASA’s 40-hour training requirement. Ability to travel; have own means of transportation.

    Overnight travel required. Position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after 6-month introductory period.

    ICASA administers supplemental insurance plans for its employees (AFLAC). Participation in the plans is voluntary. One plan includes accident, hospital confinement and cancer coverage. Payments to this plan are pre-tax premiums. Another plan includes life insurance coverage. Payments to this plan are after-tax premiums.

    Retirement Plan

    SEPP – ICASA provides a retirement plan for its employees. The vesting time for an ICASA employee to earn the benefit of the retirement plan is eighteen months. The employee will become eligible at a given date within the calendar year and benefits will be contributed for that entire year. ICASA’s payment into the employee’s retirement plan is based on the employee’s annual salary.

    403(b) ICASA offers to administer a 403(b) retirement plan for its employees. ICASA will withhold pay from the employees’ paycheck as determined by the employee and send such pay to the designated investor.

    Health Related Leave: Health Related Leave is accrued at a rate of 8 hours per month and may accrue up to 45 days of leave time.

    Vacation: Full time employees will accrue vacation days as follows:

    0-2nd anniversary                            15 days

    2nd – 5th anniversary                        20 days

    5th – 10th anniversary                      25 days

    10th anniversary and beyond        30 days

    Earned vacation will be credited to employees on a monthly basis.

    Holidays/Optional Holidays/Personal Leave

    ICASA provides employees with 11 standard holidays. In addition, you will receive two optional holidays and three personal days per calendar year.
