GSEMA’s newest job opening is for the full-time position of Customer Support Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Conversion and Customer support, this office-based position will be located in GSEMA’s Waltham office.

The Customer Support Specialist serves as the first responder to members’ inquiries received either by phone or by email. They are part of a collaborative team that works to empower girls and support them as they become the leaders of tomorrow. They serve in the critical role of supporting volunteers and caregivers as they seek to grow girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character. They support customers by providing information about membership, training, girl programs, product program, camp, and other Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts initiatives. They practice the highest standards of customer service. They build good will for Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and promote the Girl Scout experience. Customer Support Specialists work to ensure that Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity and seeking to support a myriad of Girl Scouting opportunities for girls in all communities throughout eastern Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer questions from customers by phone, email, or walk-in either based on knowledge of the Girl Scout program or by connecting the customer to the correct internal department.
  • Support the following Girl Scout council activities and constituents:
  • New member registration and renewal.
  • New leader onboarding including membership, criminal background screening, and training.
  • Online registration for council programs.
  • Fall and Cookie Product Program onboarding of volunteers and caregivers.
  • Online registration for outdoor program activities including training and Girl Scout Camp.
  • Interface with other departments to provide feedback received from customers.
  • Work with other departments to improve processes in order to maximize customer service.
  • Maintain accuracy of customer records in Salesforce.
  • Maintain confidentiality on behalf of the Girl Scout organization and in accordance with GSEMA policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience in a membership or volunteer organization, or in a call center environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office software; experience using Salesforce or other database software preferred but not required. All necessary training will be provided.
  • Strong phone-based communication skills.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and personalities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to work regular office hours, Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Waltham, MA.
  • Ability to work/collaborate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages; view diversity as an asset.
  • Bilingual skill is desirable.
  • Girl Scout membership experience is a plus but is not required. All necessary training will be provided.
