POSITION TITLE: Program Manager, New York

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: National Program Director

LOCATION: New York

AREA: Programs

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Exempt

SUPERVISORY ROLE: Program Coordinator, Program Associate

OBJECTIVE:

The Program Manager in New York creates and develops culinary education-focused programs to support and increase engagement of C-CAP’s constituent base, in line with the national program goals of C-CAP. This role works with C-CAP constituents - students, teachers, and alumni - in a primarily programmatic role. Manages external relationships with industry and education partners who are crucial to program success and interacts as a program ambassador with donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Program Management:

  • Develop and execute student programming, classroom support, and teacher professional development programs in accordance with national strategic plan
  • Ensure proper execution of student and teacher communications and materials, space acquisition/donation, vendor agreements, volunteer management, and product donations
  • Ensure that proper paperwork is collected, recorded, and filed
  • Support career advising for students and alumni
  • Manage the New York program budget, in accordance with set policies and procedures
  • Create and manage relationships with key partners in the local education system, including culinary arts teachers, principals, and Board of Education personnel
  • Oversee regular C-CAP visits to participating schools
  • Represent C-CAP at Board of Education and educational community meetings and functions
  • Create and manage relationships with industry professionals, leveraging relationships to enhance student and teacher programming
  • Working with the Finance staff, ensure school contracts are prepared in accordance with C-CAP rates and fees policies, legal review, and are approved in a timely manner
  • Manage and execute local alumni relations
  • Represent C-CAP at local industry meetings, functions, and conferences
  • Collaborate well across various C-CAP departments and locations to achieve programmatic and operational goals
  • Submit ideas for and participate in monthly national conference calls

Program Data and Measurement:

  • Responsible for accurate, appropriate, and up-to-date records in C-CAP’s database for students, alumni, teachers, volunteers, and industry contacts, including:
  • Contact information
  • Work, school, and personal relationships
  • Event and program registrations
  • Record of meetings and key conversations in database
  • Copies of correspondence
  • Manage the collection, recording, and review of program data and ensure its accuracy to evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes, according to C-CAP policies and procedures
  • Regularly report program data and outcomes

Finance, Human Resources, and Operations:

  • Ensure program location is compliant in all regards
  • Formulate and prepare annual program budgets with the Chief Administrative Officer
  • Manage approved budgets and keep expenses within budgeted parameters
  • Provide the Chief Administrative Officer with clear and timely information to ensure smooth billing and payment remittance from participating schools
  • Submit expenses on a timely basis according to C-CAP’s policies and procedures
  • Manage staff for optimum performance

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Development:

  • Support the Director of Development in local fundraising work
  • Coordinate student and alumni participation in the annual benefit in NY as well as for other cultivation and development events as needed
  • Help identify potential funders and prospects as well as in-kind product donors
  • Manage NY Alumni Board in accordance with national goals and priorities
  • Collaborate with other nonprofits and partners on special projects, when applicable

Communications:

  • Work with the National office to support a unified communications plan
  • Send monthly program reports to supervisor for sending to the board
  • Send email notifications of local events and programs to local development and industry contacts

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Work well with others in a collaborative fashion
  • Timely response to work priorities to achieve effective results
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives successfully and meet goals
  • Ability to work under direction and with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with computer application skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, CRMs, and MailChimp
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned
