Delaware County Women Against Rape (DCWAR), a nonprofit agency passionate about providing services to victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes. Our mission is to promote healing and justice by providing accompaniment and advocacy, and we strive to prevent sexual violence through education and awareness.

The Development Associate will work 14-18 hours per week under supervision of the Director of Finance. Primary responsibilities are aimed at implementing the organization’s development plan, including helping with fundraising activities, growing and cultivating the number of mid-level donors, and helping with marketing and advertising.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate for small nonprofit development and marketing, with a connection to the Delaware County community. The candidate will be an excellent communicator, has interpersonal skills and organizational skills, is experienced in fundraising for nonprofits, and is committed to the mission and goals of DCWAR.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities may include any or all of the following. Specific responsibilities will be determined by the Director of Finance based on agency need, calendar of development activities, and job activities of other staff. 

·     Work directly with Director of Finance and other staff to manage strategic priorities, fundraising operations, and reporting operations for development activities

·     Collaborate on the agency’s communications, outreach, and development activities including social media, email marketing, direct mail, and media relations.

·     Assist with social media platforms for the organization and organization events which include Facebook and Instagram

·     Assist in organizing individual donor campaigns (e.g., direct mail, online giving days, workplace giving, etc.). Help board and other constituents to cultivate and steward individual donors. Assist with donor relationship management, including stewardship thank you notes.

·     Coordinate community relations activities including virtual and in-person events

·     Assist DCWAR’s Development Committee

·     Develop pipeline of community-based programs, individuals, and corporate donors.

· Provide follow-up reports to Fiscal Director to present to funders 

· Manage donor tracking and reporting, fundraising communications and logistics, special events and the development budget

· Oversee stewardship of all donor gifts, including data entry, tracking, reporting, correspondence, and follow-up in conjunction with the administrative staff

· Manage donor management system

· Obtain in-kind gifts and donated services for clients as well as fundraisers

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to execute a long-term strategic plan while managing the details of the day-to-day
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent writer; able to craft a concise and compelling case for DCWAR for use in materials, public speaking and in meetings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; can build relationships and communicate across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to function as team member of a unit and the agency as a whole
  • Must have schedule flexibility

Expected Experience, Training, and Clearances

  • Associates Degree in marketing, business, or related field
  • At least 2 years of progressive responsible development/fundraising experience, with a proven track record of increasing donor bases.
  • Must have knowledge of local/regional corporations
  • Social media expertise a plus

·     Satisfactory background checks: child abuse, criminal history, FBI fingerprinting

· Forty hours of sexual assault counselor training, provided by Delaware County Women Against Rape subsequent to hire
