Salary range is $12 - $16 per hour


IRIS-Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services in New Haven, CT is currently seeking a Summer Learning Program Infant/Toddler Teacher (SLPITT). Our program requires you to have a passion for early education and experience working with infants and toddlers in an educational setting. The Infant/Toddler Teacher will be responsible for making lesson plans and leading the classroom with the help of a team of interns and volunteers.

Specific Duties:

  • Plan and implement educational care for children ages 0-2 as part of a Family Literacy program for refugee families in New Haven.
  • Direct a team of classroom volunteers and interns in daily activities and educational child care to promote physical, cognitive, language, emotional, and social development.
  • Organize daily art projects and enrichment activities designed for infants and toddlers.
  • Assist infants and toddlers to transition away from mothers and encourage interactions with other children within the classroom.
  • Plan program curriculum and activities with the other Early Childhood Educator and the Family Literacy Program Manager.
  • Participate in Parent Education and Interactive Literacy Activity sessions.

Requirements:

  • Accociates Degree (minimum)
  • 1 year of Early Ed Experience (preferred)
  • Coursework in child growth & development
  • Experience with infants and toddlers in an educational setting

This is a part-time short term position without benefits - 20 hrs/wk from late July 1 - Aug 16, with a few extra hours in late June.
