Competitive salary contingent on experience and qualifications

The Sacramento Waldorf School is seeking a high school physics teacher to begin Fall 2020-2021 school year. We are looking for a colleague who is interested in teaching physics and math in our beautifully equipped science laboratories. Our ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in Physics. We will also consider candidates with an advanced degree in engineering. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Similarly, Waldorf teacher training is preferred; otherwise candidates should have a willingness to join our in-house Waldorf teacher training.

Our science curriculum is taught through a developmental approach where our students can learn from the phenomena before them. At least one-third of each daily two-hour science class will be hands-on laboratory experimentation, and the ideal candidate should both be familiar with classic experiments in physics and have a willingness to explore new ways of presenting material as students learn by doing.

We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about curriculum development, interested in Waldorf education, and who enjoy working with adolescents. Sacramento Waldorf School is working to create a campus environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and increasingly diverse. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in diverse, multi-cultural, and inclusive settings, as we collaborate to support an effective, inclusive learning environment for our students and staff. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, and we commit to interviewing candidates representing communities that have traditionally been underrepresented in the sciences.

Sacramento Waldorf School is an established early childhood through 12th grade independent private school located in Fair Oaks, just east of Sacramento, in Northern California. The school offers a full Waldorf program to more than 400 students. The beautiful twenty-two-acre site overlooks the American River and affords many opportunities for outdoor and environmental education.

Established in 1959, SWS is the oldest Waldorf School in Northern California. We are an accredited full member of AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and have also been accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1983. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We offer a competitive salary contingent on experience and qualifications and an excellent benefit package. Employment is contingent on a post-offer, pre-employment, fingerprint-based background check.
