Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania’s oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice.

Purpose:

. This member of the ACT multidisciplinary team has the responsibility to carry out rehabilitation and support functions and assist in treatment, provide substance abuse services, education, support and consultation to families; and provide crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with professional degrees.

Supervision Received:

. Receives clinical and administrative supervision from the ACT Director or authorized professional ACT team members.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral sciences and/or at least 2 years experience.

• Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), required, with on-going coursework in drug and alcohol counseling to qualify for re-certification.

• Knowledge of multiple support systems for substance abusers.

• Skills and competence to establish supporting trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for clients’ rights and personal preferences in treatment is essential

• Good communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Scope:

. Frequent talking and listening.

. Manual dexterity.

. May require crisis intervention in emergency situations.

. Flexibility in scheduling and available to do 24 hour on-call coverage.

. Light lifting and/or carrying, not to exceed 25 lbs.

. Local travel required, including transporting program clients.

. May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
