Would you love to have a position that will inspire the youth of the San Francisco Bay Area, while also developing skills and knowledge to start a career in the nonprofit sector or field of education? We at BAYAC AmeriCorps are looking for passionate individuals to join our team as an Academic Mentor at Asian Pacific American Community Center (APACC) in San Francisco (https://apaccsf.org/). APACC’s mission is to help strengthen Asian Pacific American families living in Visitation Valley by providing linguistically and culturally appropriate programs and services. Their clients are mostly low and moderate income immigrant families with limited or no English proficiency. The goal of their programs is to ensure that their clients receive support in the form of education, resources and referrals needed to adapt and become self sufficient. Their ultimate goal is for families to thrive and the community to be confident, healthy, strong and safe.
The Academic Mentor will provide in-person services and will work directly with youth at their Community Hubs by supporting distance learning, homework support, and after-school extracurricular activities with youth grades 1st to 6th. The Community Hubs will be offered in-person at their site following the State and County Health Department guidelines to ensure health and safety protocols.
