Description

The Development Associate is a position that supports a broad range of activities in the development department, reporting to the Associate Director of Donor Relations and Engagement (ADDRE) and working closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO). This is a full-time position with a benefits package that includes employer subsidized health insurance.


Essential Job Functions include:

Gift Processing and Development Database (60%)

  • Working with the Donor Services and Database Manager, assist with end-to-end activities associated with financial and in-kind gift processing: donor record creation, accurate gift entry, acknowledgment letter production, batch report creation and filing of completed batches.
  • Provide regular data hygiene support (updating addresses, identifying and merging duplicate records)
  • Coordinate the signature and mailing of acknowledgement letters weekly
  • Working with Development Coordinator, facilitate weekly gift stewardship meeting and monthly gratitude campaigns

Event Logistics & Development Coordination (30%)

  • Working with Senior Events & Development Manager, provide event support to implement major events (Gala & Auction, Luncheon, Walk) and third-party efforts
  • Provide ad hoc volunteer and in-kind office support
  • Interact and coordinate activities with donors, board members, staff, volunteers and clients
  • Assist with general team support including mailings, event material creation, meeting preparation, etc.

Workplace Giving and Recurring Donor Support (10%)

  • Create and facilitate the annual workplace giving cultivation and stewardship to build workplace giving support from local and national agencies and corporations
  • Serve as point person for all United Way and Combined Federal Campaign programs including attending events, donor tracking and stewardship
  • Maintain login information for all workplace giving portals to ensure that all donors are recognized accurately
  • Working with Senior Communications Manager, help implement sustaining donor campaign and stewardship activities


 Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year relevant experience preferred; HS diploma and at least 3 years’ relevant experience required
  • Experience with fundraising and/or accounting software including data entry, reporting and queries
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting
  • Highly organized; possesses the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent ability to develop and maintain respectful rapport with clients, co-workers and supporters from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate verbally in a professional and confident manner
  • Mature abilities problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds in weight
  • Ability to occasionally drive a 15 passenger van or willingness to be trained on driving 15 passenger van (preferred)
