Systems Administrator and Analyst - Boston, MA

This position will be remote through the summer with some requirements for on-site days at the Trustees’ downtown Boston office. Starting in October, the position will become full or partial on-site.

 

The Opportunity. 

The Systems Administrator and Analyst position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic IT team to support staff and current systems while working to adapt and adopt new/evolving technology opportunities. The primary focus will be to assist with supporting staff, upgrading and maintaining cloud and on-premise systems, facilitating data exchanges, configuring and supporting network software and hardware that support staff and business operations. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for assisting with technology project pipeline delivery as either project manager or team member. 

 

In This Role You Will: 

Assist the IT Director to: 

  • Manage all aspects of an 0365 tenant  
  • Configure, maintain, and audit Windows servers and workstations for functionality and security, across the state. 
  • Manage network infrastructure and services – DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wireless, Radius, Firewall 
  • Administer a hybrid AD / Azure AD environment with a focus on information security best practices 
  • Administer a highly-available Hyper-V cluster providing virtualized Remote Desktop Services   
  • Support various applications hosted on-premise  
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and practice, including off-site and Azure cloud-based backup strategies  
  • Automate basic/repetitive tasks  
  • Participate in supporting staff via the IT helpdesk system. 
  • Prioritize support demands so highest priority issues are addressed promptly and appropriately, escalate issues when necessary, and work occasionally after-hours or on weekends, as needed. 
  • Write new, or review and update existing, internal IT department documentation. 
  • Provide training to staff on organization systems 
  • Experience with some, or all, of the following a plus: Azure & Azure AD, Intune, PowerShell, Power Apps, SQL, Kaseya, Altaro, Sophos, Raisers Edge, Financial Edge, ArcGIS, Teams Phone, Freshdesk, SAML, LDAP, SSO, JAMF 
  • Additional responsibilities assigned as needed

Level of Language Proficiency

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required) 
  • 3+ years of experience working in a relevant IT role 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet established goals 
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff  
  • Experience with supporting on-premise and cloud systems 
  • Some travel required (<20%), must have transportation 
  • Limited nights and weekends required for scheduled maintenance/outages 


Education and Experience:
