Vermont Legal Aid seeks a full-time advocate in its Office of the Health Care Advocate Project located in Burlington. Responsibilities include: investigating and resolving complaints and questions from Vermonters regarding health insurance and health care; advising consumers about their rights and responsibilities; assisting beneficiaries with appeals, and maintaining case records. A successful candidate must be able to work on a team, doing extensive telephone work in a busy environment. The position requires excellent communication and research skills as well as the ability to learn quickly. Prior health care, human services, health insurance or advocacy experience, and commitment to social justice are desirable. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Starting salary $34,917 +DOE, four weeks paid vacation and excellent fringe benefits.
