Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County, is currently seeking an Academic Teacher to provide adult education and TASC™ preparation to help women obtain their high school equivalency diploma. Instructional responsibilities required are teaching reading, writing, social studies, science, and mathematics to the TASC™ exam, as directed by the New York State Education Department. Position is 21 hours per week, Monday to Friday mornings, with benefits.
Must have knowledge of administering and scoring TABE, assisting adult students with test strategies, completing TASC™ test applications. Experience with Smart Board technology and computer applications.
The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education; Master’s Degree and NYS Teacher Certification preferred with at least 5 years teaching experience. Must also have experience teaching adults in an urban environment. This program is part of WJCS’s Mary J. Blige Center, a center located in Southwest Yonkers that is exclusively devoted to empowering women and girls.
