We are seeking to recruit a new member of our team to support policy and research initiatives for the Institute with a special focus on our newly launched AI Hub. The AI Hub at NYU McSilver will address a dearth of information about how AI can impact the lives of people in marginalized communities. Among the Hub’s initial areas of focus will be building on the Institute’s work to answer whether AI can be used to better predict suicide rates and behaviors by race, geography, income, and other demographic variables with other innovative public health research and interventions to follow.

 

Reporting to the Chief AI Officer, the Program Associate will provide critical administrative support and will be responsible for the preparation, editing, and finalization of documents related to research advancement, proposal generation, and policy development. They will also provide support to the research, policy, and communications teams by providing literature reviews, editing and formatting intervention materials, as well as assisting with the development of presentations. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the institute's research and policy-related activities with a focus on collecting research and policy-related data and preparing for subsequent reports;
  • Support the institute’s grant administration process including assembling materials, compiling data, and completing forms for upcoming proposals and reports;
  • Perform ongoing maintenance for research-related records and systems;
  • Prepare travel and business expense reimbursements. Review reimbursement requests for adherence to University and sponsor guidelines;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of research, policy, and advocacy initiatives that advance equity for communities impacted by poverty;
  • Support the development of an engagement strategy for elected officials and policymakers
  • Monitor, track, and analyze local, state, and federal policies and practices related to AI, poverty policy, and other social justice-focused topics as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a fast-paced office setting, preferably as an administrative assistant and/or grants administrator in a University or Higher Education setting;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of highly competent, socially conscious professionals in a high-energy work environment;
  • Self-starter with strong multi-tasking, time-management, and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to handle multiple assignments and perform against deadlines;
  • Display strong interpersonal skills with a focus on community-based service;
  • Keen understanding of the social determinants of health;
  • Expertise in community-based outreach
  • Strong analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
