    Organizational Background

    LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) was established in 1973 by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to provide direct educational services to underserved

    communities throughout the US & Puerto Rico. LNESC serves more than 14,000 students each year, providing educational counseling, scholarships, mentorships, leadership development, and literacy and technology programs through its network of 16 educational centers.     Position Description

    LNESC seeks a Special Projects Intern for a virtual position appointed to its national office in Washington, DC. The intern will be assisting staff members in program support, communications, social media, content creation, donor outreach and special event planning and coordination. This position is excellent for anyone seeking exposure to the non-profit sector, specifically with education and leadership programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Internship will begin in November 2025 until May 2026, with a potential to extend for a longer period. This individual will work and adhere to the mission of LNESC. Duties include the following:

    Communications Support

    • Assist efforts in content creation, design and layout, and implementation of communication tools for the website.
    • Assist in implementation of email distribution framework with appropriate databases
    • Provide regular updates to the website with any new data, content, pictures, images, videos, logos, anecdotes, testimonials and other relevant information
    • Assist in the development of marketing materials, media outreach and website content for programs and special events.
    • Provide ad-hoc creative input and strategic support for social media content and external mailings to enhance messaging, design, and overall impact.
    • Serve as a checkpoint for newsletters and mailings before distribution by ensuring that formatting, embedded links, and media are consistent and functional.

    Program Support

    • Provide administrative support in digital education program development, implementation, documentation and post-promotion.
    • Collect and organize data, content, pictures, images, videos, logos, anecdotes, testimonials and other relevant information to be used in reports, website or database sets.
    • Assist in gathering and analyzing information for programs, including data collection and entry on performance measures from online database.
    • Implement measurable outcome methods with pre- and post- surveys, testimonials, video, pictures, attendance reports, social media outreach and analytics, and other relevant data.
    • Assist in virtual and in-person workshop logistics and overall execution.

    Development Support

    • Provide general staff support to the Development office that includes outreach efforts to potential donors and funders.
    • Update and maintain a database of corporate, foundation and individual donors.
    • Compile data and compose narratives for use in program reports to funders and for internal records.
    • Assist in planning and coordinating meetings and trainings for the Development team.
    • Document meetings and staff assignments, as well as record progress through assignment checklist and written reports.

    Administrative Support

    • Coordinate and organize a virtual retreat with National Team and LNESC Directors.
    • Provide assistance in special event planning as part of a staff team.
    • Document meetings and staff assignments, as well as record progress through assignment checklist and written reports.
    • Provide administrative support as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Entry-level Professional or grad student working on a degree program with fields of study in education, communications, political science, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
    • Telework requirements: Must have access to internet.
    • Must be knowledgeable about efficient office practices and procedures, including virtual meetings.
    • Self-motivated and able to multi-task and meet a series of deadlines.
    • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills with time constraints and varied workload.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva, with preference for experience with content management systems, website design, and social media.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and critical reading skills, as well as strong proficiency in internet research.
    • A high level of professionalism and discretion is required.
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Compensation and Hours

    • The position will begin in November 2025.
    • This is a six-month internship position at 15 - 20 hours a week.
    • The position salary is $20/hour.
    • If you are selected for the position, you will be required to fill out all proper forms prior to being hired.
