Overview and Purpose: 

The role of the Operations Manager Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) is responsible for board management and engagement, staff and office supervision and operations and overall financial management. This includes day-to-day management of people and processes, the audit and oversight of financial operations, and board management leadership.

You are passionate about the mission and vision of the WRJ. You are an experienced and organized leader and manager who can build and maintain strategic relationships with a wide array of stakeholders internally and externally. You have experience with financial management and bring a high level of business acumen to the WRJ. You can set strategic direction while also directly executing strategies on a day-to-day basis. You are tech savvy and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are positive, assertive, professional and an all-around team player. You bring a ‘whatever it takes” mentality and are ready to roll up your sleeves and work in a variety of ways to help push WRJ forward.

Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) is the women’s affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism, the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. Established in 1913, WRJ represents tens of thousands of women in about 400 women’s groups (sisterhoods) in North America and around the world. Its mission is to strengthen the voice of women worldwide and empower them to create caring communities, nurture congregations, cultivate personal and spiritual growth, and advocate for and promote progressive Jewish values.

WRJ educates and trains women in the areas of membership, fundraising, innovative programming, leadership skills, advocacy for social justice, and spiritual programming. Through its YES Fund (Youth, Education, and Special Projects) and other philanthropic efforts, WRJ provides financial support to the various institutions of Reform Judaism.

What you’ll do as our Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Advocacy: 

Staff/Office Supervision

· Responsible for day-to-day operations of the organization, including, but not limited to scheduling staff meetings, coordinating phone/vacation coverage, supply purchases and staff expenses, and maintenance of files, inventory, and storage

· Direct supervision and evaluation of Administrative staff for reception, order fulfillment, data entry, etc.

· HR Liaison (approval of staff time off, onboarding, recruitment/search)

Financial

· AP and banking: facilitation of payments (check processing, wire transfers, credit card reconciliation, stock transfers; monthly Shared Services bills); remote deposits

· Monthly and quarterly batch reconciliations

· Audit oversight and staff liaison to Audit Committee

· Staff liaison to Investment Committee (monthly reports from investment managers and annual meeting)

Board Management

· Maintenance of lists and records, board communications

· Responsibility for all board meetings (annual) and webinars (quarterly); support for in-person Board committee meetings (Executive, Budget, Nominating)

· Staff liaison for Board Nominating Committees (Board-annual; EC/Officers-triennial)

· Facilitation of board transitions, including onboarding and orientation programs and recognition of outgoing and incoming board members

· Staff liaison for Board alumni (Chai Society)

You Have: 

· BA degree required, Master’s degree preferred

· 5-10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit management, including administration, volunteer management, and some fundraising

· Prior supervisory experience

· Strong computer proficiency, including the Microsoft Office Suite and database software; CRM knowledge a plus

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of social networking helpful

· Strong project and relationship management experience

· Experience with volunteer and committee management

· Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks with rigorous attention to detail

· Must be able to work effectively under pressure, take direction as well as take initiative when required

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able and available to travel, when needed, in support of WRJ Programs and Events.
  • Some evenings and weekends expected

Location: New York preferred, remote location will be considered.
