Description

Cinereach is seeking a highly-motivated Filmmaker Support Associate to join the team. The Filmmaker Support Associate will work to support the various needs of the Head of Partnerships & Creative Initiatives (~20%), Head of Grants (~40%), and Head of Filmmaker Development (~40%). This role will provide logistical, administrative, and research support in order to ensure that the team meets its organizational and programmatic goals.

Filmmakers including Eliza Hittman, Barry Jenkins, and Terence Nance have participated in Cinereach’s year-long fellowships, and producers such as Julie Goldman, Karin Chien, Heather Rae, Shrihari Sathe, and Joslyn Barnes have received awards for their innovation and mentorship through the Cinereach producers initiative. Current partners and supported organizations include Borscht Corp. of Miami, Detroit Narrative Agency (DNA), the SFFILM Invest program, Stockade Works of Kingston, NY, and Sundance Institute’s Art of Nonfiction Fellowship and Creative Producing Program.

The Role


Cinereach is a multi-talented, 17 person team, that continues to grow and experiment. This continuous evolution often inspires a start-up mentality and requires team members that drive for a high level of excellence while also being nimble. The Filmmaker Support Associate will work primarily with the Head of Grants, Head of Filmmaker Development and Head of Partnerships & Creative Initiatives—but will frequently be collaborating with other members of the team.


The primary responsibilities of the role include:


  • Executing research for specific projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Maintaining administrative processes—with an aim towards improving efficiency.
  • Providing logistical assistance for programs and initiatives—including coordinating travel, workshops, and events.
  • Coordinating relevant information and activities within the Filmmaker Support team.
  • Compiling a monthly activity update on supported filmmakers/projects.
  • Project review, as needed


The Ideal Candidate


For this position, the ideal candidate will be someone who strives to tackle projects head-on, be comfortable with self-direction, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities. They will be exceptionally organized and have excellent communication skills. The candidate will have an affinity for independent films, be driven to innovate in both small and major ways, and be looking to join a passionate, mission-driven team. Previous experience in a non-profit or media industry organization required. Experience with event planning preferred.


Background & Qualifications


  • (Required) 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • (Preferred) Event planning experience
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented self-starter, who possesses a flexible, pragmatic and creative approach to problem-solving
  • Able to multitask under pressure, highly organized, detail and process oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, take responsibility for work and see things through to completion
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong interest in philanthropy and/or the independent film industry
