Your Role

We are currently seeking a full-time to 3/4 full-time Spanish teacher position.  Each Spanish class has 5-15 students, ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. You will lead 4-5 different classes a day, starting from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm, five days a week.

  • Develop and implement innovative and decolonized curriculum
  • Communicate peacefully with co-lead, students, families, and colleagues
  • Engage in self-reflection and professional development through goal-setting, training, and feedback loops with colleagues.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and proficient in English 
  • Able to speak to parents and write report cards in English
  • A minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • Proficient technology skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office.
  • Must already be located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Share knowledge of key Spanish holidays, such as Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead),  Cinco de Mayo and other holidays.
  • Use Spanish to interact with and provide instruction to K-8th grade students to help children become proficient in Spanish.
  • Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation for Spanish instruction.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere centered on intellectual inquiry and student engagement.
  • Foster classroom community through inclusionary, compassionate, and supportive practices.
  • Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
  • Overtly support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values.
  • Actively engage in implementing the school's curriculum and educational mission of Spanish project-based practices and values.
  • Educate students on the semantic and syntactic aspects of the Spanish language through content-based inquiry. 
  • Collaborate with co-teachers, plan and implement curriculum through the project-based approach that reflects a balance of the children's interests and teacher interests/provocations.
  • Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation for Spanish instruction.
  • Prepare students to understand and deliver presentations for parents, colleagues, and community members on traditional Spanish cuisine, music, art, and poetry.
  • Honor the confidentiality of school and student information.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Engage in self-reflection and professional development through goal-setting professional development opportunities and ongoing dialog with division directors.
  • Establish a strong classroom diversity culture for learning that is positive, inclusive, restorative, and contributes to the school community.
