Who We Are

The Food Education Fund is a nonprofit program that prepares and empowers our students to continue their education and cultivate sustainable careers through experiential learning in culinary arts, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.

We are well on our way creating a Food Media Program with an aim to supply students with ample opportunities to work creatively and collaboratively in the public and alongside their peers in the media space with programs that challenge them to create their own podcasts, magazine content, and cookbook pages.

About The Position

We are looking for a digital-savvy community manager to take control of our online voice and build brand awareness and loyalty. The community manager will be responsible for aligning all company communications, PR, social media, and marketing content to create a strong brand identity. You will be the first point of contact for online fans and followers, thus developing a close relationship with the online and in-person community. This means keeping an eye on brand mentions, taking note of trends and replying to user questions. Lastly, the Community Manager will spend a portion of their time on strategy and analytics.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep passion for social media, stay abreast of new developments and opportunities in the industry, and be a strategic thinker as well as open to frequently socializing in-person as part of the job. This position will be responsible for running the Food Education Fund social media accounts, incorporating students and alumni in the planning, outreach, and content creation in alignment with the outlined community strategy.

The best potential candidate for this position must have a solid understanding of the current food media landscape and its various components and stay up to date on all food media news and developments as well as knowledge of drivers of educational inequity and key issues that impact youth development.

In this role, you will work closely with the Food Media Director to create strategies on how to recruit more community members as well as engage with them and retain their investment in our endeavors. This position will require the Community Manager to go out into the real world and be a representative of our core values and mission.

A community manager’s success is measured more in the long term. In advocating for the Food Education Fund, they will cultivate relationships and a distinct understanding of the unique needs of our community members. Success also looks like increased engagement, building long-term trust and relationships with our audience, and the creation of consistent and relevant content.

Candidate must be based in New York and role requires a portion of the hours to be in-person with some designated remote hours.
