The Marketing & Communications Manager (M&C) will help manage a multitude of communications and marketing efforts across the organization. The individual is responsible for promoting the overall NAPHSIS brand and helping staff members make the most out of social media and marketing tools for various products and programs. The individual will also help ensure that our brand positioning and cross market messaging resonates well in each market we serve.
The M&C Manager will have three areas of focus: 1) basic marketing & communications, 2) help coordinate meeting and event planning activities, including corporate sponsorship and 3) marketing the association's products & services. These three areas contain considerable overlap. The M&C Manager will build a strategic communications plan for NAPHSIS that successfully feeds/fills all three areas.
The M&C Manager is expected to be self-motivated and will drive key communications to the right audiences at the right time for maximum impact. It is important that the individual is pro-active rather than reactive in their communication and marketing activities. Promotion of meeting and trainings is of particular importance.
AREA 1: COMMUNICATIONS & MEMBERSHIP. The manager will gather information and expertise from subject matter experts and create strategic, targeted content to help NAPHSIS reach its various audiences: vital records membership, corporate members and vendor communities that help supply and support the membership, and our partners in the Public Health and Identity realm. The individual will lead staff and engage members in managing the Association's communication schedule, producing its monthly newsletter (and any other messaging vehicles we may employ), supporting communication needs of funded programs and managing social media platforms. Additionally, the individual will monitor and update the membership list to ensure all members are receiving appropriate communications.
AREA 2: MEETINGS & EVENTS. The M&C Manager is the point person between the events management company (employed to manage the logistics of our meetings and events) and the rest of the staff (and occasionally the membership directly). This is a critical role as we return to in-person events as the Manager will be overseeing the Association’s event calendar, its sponsorship programs, its exhibitor management and all the communication that goes with it. The M&C Manager will work directly with the program group to create and populate the event schedule, including speaker management and asset management. The M&C Manager will work directly with events management company to help facilitate program design and deployment (whether print or digital), audio visual equipment needs, room sets, expected attendee numbers and all food & beverage selection based on the Association’s annual budget or the programmatic budget, whichever is appropriate.
AREA 3: MARKETING PRODUCTS & SERVICES. The Manager will be responsible for marketing the Association’s meetings and trainings. This individual will also work with the Systems Team to create occasional marketing materials for the EVVE and STEVE products/services and program staff to market availability of program products/services. The Manager will also be responsible for the content and design of the Association’s Annual Report, its website, and its social media presences.
