Summary of Tasks
The Program Assistant—in collaboration with
the Director of Programs and Services and Program Coordinator—supports
the implementation and evaluation of programs, activities and special
events at the Center. The Program Assistant is a part-time in-person
position (20 hours per week at $20 per hour salary). The Program
Assistant plans and oversees Open Doors hours at the Hudson Valley
LGBTQ+ Community Center which includes welcoming guests to the Center,
facilitating in-house activities and meals, and assisting guests with
needs inside the building. This position will staff the reception desk
and manage bookings for weekly Community Acupuncture Clinics, update
Center bulletin boards, promote Center programs, manage volunteer
scheduling and assignments, and assist with program attendance data
entry. The Program Assistant will also be in attendance at all-staff
meetings (2x a week), and have weekly one-on-one meetings with the
Director of Programs. The schedule for the Program Assistant will be
Tuesdays 10am-4pm or 6:30pm (end time alternating weeks), Thursdays
3-8:30pm, and Saturdays 11:30-4:30pm, in addition to 1-2.5 flexible
scheduling hours for program planning and prep time (to add up to a 20
hour work week). This position is eligible for a prorated share of leave
and vacation time off.
Duties
The specific tasks for the position include:
· Coordinates and implements Open Door hour activities, including advertising, set-up and evaluation;
· Serves as set-up/clean up, receptionist and reservation desk for Community Acupuncture Clinic;
· Coordinates Open Door center volunteers; including training, placing, and supporting volunteers;
· Oversees and regularly updates Center bulletin boards with current
program and services information and remove outdated information;
· Provide community support through answering calls and greeting visitors to share Center information, support and resources;
· Responsible for data collection and entry of Open Door and Community
Acupuncture Clinic attendance, and assists with monthly reporting on
programs and services provided by the Center;
· Completes other tasks as assigned by the Director of Programs and Services.
Qualifications
· A strong understanding of LGBTQ+ culture and the diverse intersections
of identities within the community including, but not limited to, race,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, sex, ability status, age,
socioeconomic class, language, religion and citizenship status
· A strong commitment to the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center’s mission, values, and goals;
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and telephone communication skills;
· Excellent time management and organizational skills;
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collegial work environment;
· Access to reliable transportation
· Proficiency in languages other than English, especially Spanish, is a plus but not required;
