Ayuda is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing direct legal, social and language access services, education, and outreach to low-income immigrants in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Since 1973, Ayuda has provided critical services on a wide range of issues, in the process acquiring nationally recognized expertise in several fields including immigration law, language access, domestic violence and human trafficking. Ayuda has office locations in Washington, DC, Silver Spring, MD and Falls Church, VA.

WHAT WILL THIS JOB ENTAIL?

Provide comprehensive case management and crisis intervention for immigrant clients who have been victims of crimes (such as intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking);

  • Conduct client intakes and assess client needs, and develop individualized social service plans and safety plans;
  • Develop goals and timelines prioritizing client needs, and support clients in achieving those goals (including increasing safety, employment/vocational/educational needs, basic assistance and appropriate referrals);
  • Assist clients in filling out applications for public benefits, housing programs, educational classes and other relevant services;
  • Advocate for clients and accompany them as necessary to meetings with other agencies;
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and support groups for clients;
  • Collaborate with volunteers, donors, partner agencies and colleagues to coordinate the donation and distribution of in-kind goods (e.g. basic needs, food pantry, seasonal drives);
  • Collaborate with Ayuda’s Legal and Language Access programs to provide holistic services to clients;
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant applications and reports, including maintaining up-to-date reporting information and documentation for the program;

Eligibility:

Must be legally able to work in the United States and maintain proper work authorization throughout employment. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position presented in a general office environment.

Education/Experience:

4-year degree in social work or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience

Case management experience preferred

Technological Skills:

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with case management software preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Fluent in English and Spanish

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to communicate to a variety of audiences orally and in writing

Ability to write clearly and informatively

Highly developed interpersonal skills, excellent customer service skills

Professionalism with both internal and external customers, strong work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to initiate and follow through on work independently

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to crisis

Ability to adapt to changing priorities

Proven problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions

Strong ethics and sound judgment


SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The salary is commensurate with experience and comes with a robust benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, life and AD&D insurance as well as an employer-provided retirement match. All federal holidays are observed, and Ayuda offers paid leave for the week of Christmas through New Year’s Day. This position is exempt for overtime purposes.
