General Summary:

The Public Health Data Specialist supports the development and deployment of client data systems used by SNJPC, FHI and their partner agencies. The Public Health Data Specialist develops and offers training, provides user support, conducts data cleaning, and runs reports. The Public Health Data Specialist maintains detailed expertise in all proprietary systems - both front-end functionality and back-end structure – and translates that knowledge into customer service, training and data lifecycle activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, maintains and distributes training materials for proprietary systems
  • Trains both internal and external users on the use and functionality of proprietary systems
  • Provides end user support for proprietary systems and manages support tickets
  • Assists with user administration by setting up, changing, and deactivating user accounts in various software applications
  • Responsible for data collection, data entry and processing
  • Responsible for data analysis and report preparation
  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly and annual data reporting
  • Supports program database and reporting needs
  • Develops data collection tools for assigned projects and programs
  • Assists in the deployment of new systems or new functionality
  • Enters data from electronic and hard copy source materials into system(s); updates records by deleting, changing, merging, or adding data to files
  • Maintains current, up-to-date Daily Operations Manual for core tasks
  • Maintains and updates Database Procedure Manuals
  • Travels to off-site locations for training, data collection or troubleshooting as indicated
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • College degree in related field
  • Experience with Excel and MS Access
  • Experience with SQL Server, SPSS or Salesforce a plus
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing technology
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as ability to handle deadlines, details and complexity
  • Must be able to handle matters of a confidential nature
  • Valid driver’s license, car and current insurance policy

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to see to read documents and hear well enough to communicate with others
  • Must be able to write, type on a computer, and use a telephone
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Additional requirements to be determined with input from Director and HR

Work Environment:

Works in a climate-controlled professional office environment generally free from hazards and other adverse working conditions

Successful candidates for employment by SNJPC must undergo a criminal background check and driver`s license review.
