The American College of Physicians (ACP), a prestigious medical membership association for doctors of internal medicine located in Philadelphia, is seeking an experienced Senior Research Analyst to serve as the lead member of ACP’s research team.

The Senior Research Analyst will have experience in a survey research environment and will be responsible for study design development, identification and application of appropriate quantitative analytic methods, analysis of resultant data, and preparation of written reports. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develops and implements research design, inclusive of methodology and appropriate statistical methods for analyzing data on assigned projects
  • Oversees planning, implementation and dissemination of the results of research to staff
  • Utilizes SPSS software to write programs and creates syntax to implement agreed-upon research design and methodology
  • Reviews data runs, suggests and pursues additional analyses as appropriate, and provides overall quality assurance
  • Creates presentations and writes reports to present results of analyses to staff
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and expertise with traditional and new research methods, analytic techniques, and technologies
  • Mentors Research staff in research methods, data analyses, and reporting techniques and reviews all reports of findings for accuracy

Qualified applicants will possess a Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) in a social science or quantitative field, with a demonstrated variety of experience with statistics and quantitative data analysis, health outcomes measurement, report writing, and oral presentations in the fields of survey research, market research, health services research, or one of the social sciences. The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data – at least four years of prior experience in manipulating data sets and utilizing SPSS software to write programs and create syntax
  • Demonstrated expertise in survey research methodology, sampling, designing questionnaires, data analysis, and manuscript preparation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to mentor others
  • Ability to manage projects simultaneously and under pressure of deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through
