Network Coordinator

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The Ocean Sewage Alliance (OSA) is a diverse collective of organizations and academic partners committed to reducing the threat of ocean wastewater pollution and increasing the health and wellbeing of both humans and nature. The OSA launched in June 2021, includes twenty four diverse partners across conservation, academic, sanitation and private sectors and has established five working groups. OSA is an independent operating project of the nonprofit umbrella organization, Multiplier, a nationally recognized nonprofit with a growing portfolio of innovative initiatives that conserve and protect a sustainable and resilient world.

The goals of the alliance include:

1. Build an evidence-based case to drive action and support decision making to reduce wastewater pollution.
2. Catalyze and support cross-sector collaboration.
3. Be a united voice that encourages and supports action.
4. Serve as a knowledge and learning hub to support successful implementation of solutions.
5. Expand donor network and funding to both support the OSA and drive funds towards action.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network Coordinator will play an integral role in supporting the Executive Director in coordinating day-to-day operations of the organization and in critical program development. This is an opportunity to play a central role in the development and growth of a new and growing nonprofit.

The Network Coordinator is a newly-created position. This position is essential to developing collaborative partnerships with cross-sector organizations working on the issue of ocean wastewater pollution, but not yet all working together. With a diversity of partners, a newly launched awareness building campaign and social media presence, and a growing pipeline of interested potential new member organizations, OSA is at an exciting point in establishing itself as a solutions-driven network of experts, cross-sector collaborators and as a knowledge hub for driving action. 

The primary responsibilities of the Network Coordinator will be to provide administrative support, program management expertise and partnership development skills to sustain and accelerate the growth of the organization. This is an unparalleled opportunity to work across all areas of a dynamic startup organization, learn and apply program development strategies, and employ essential leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. The Network Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring OSA achieves its ambitious vision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Alliance Coordination

• Schedule, coordinate and support agenda development for monthly Steering Committee meetings, OSA quarterly meetings, and monthly working group meetings
• Track working group activities and keep projects moving forward

Administrative Coordination

• Maintain organized documentation 
• Provide project management support to Executive Director including tracking deliverables and deadlines

Communications and external relations

• Support development of content and presentation materials in collaboration with the Executive Director and OSA partners (slide decks, partner & member newsletters, outreach materials) 
• Assist with editing and copywriting for communication materials (including reports, briefs, blog posts, white papers, press releases) and fundraising materials
• Coordinate development of new awareness campaign materials including data visualizations and graphics

Online Management

• Coordinate with OSA Social Media Fellow to develop social media strategy, curate content, assist with community management, and track metrics on Hootsuite
• Create social toolkits to distribute to OSA partners
• Manage paid ad campaigns by identifying key audiences/demographics
• Track partner activity and mine news/scientific literature/social media/etc. for information to share to the wider OSA network
• Conduct influencer outreach and new partnership development 
• Manage website updates (Webflow)
• Manage collaborative platform (e.g., Slack) 
• Manage newsletter platform (Mailchimp)
• Update interactive map of partner locations (e.g., Google My Maps)

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

If you enjoy organizing, creating and executing elaborate to-do lists, and are always the one in charge of coordinating the troops for camping trips, then this might be the position for you! The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, can juggle and prioritize multiple tasks, and thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. You also bring your own ideas and creativity to contribute to developing partnerships and driving progress across our working groups.

You are passionate about protecting ocean and human health and working towards a sustainable and equitable society. You have the ability to think about the big picture, but can also execute administrative tasks thoughtfully and with attention to detail. You have experience in meeting coordination and facilitation and a passion for communication and social media outreach. The ideal candidate will be a person of high integrity, humor, creativity, enthusiasm, and optimism.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

We recognize that each applicant for this role will bring unique skills, knowledge, experiences, and background to this position. We welcome diverse experiences and perspectives in our applicant pool, and will be looking for candidates who possess many, but not necessarily all, of the following qualifications and experience:

• An interest in and passion for OSA’s mission and vision.
• 3-5 years of administrative experience including working across multiple time zones with a diversity of partners or stakeholders 
• 3-5 years experience with meeting facilitation
• 3-5 years of project management experience including daily navigation across a variety of roles and responsibilities, balancing competing priorities, meeting deadlines and managing project documentation 
• Strong collaboration skills across sectors of industry and cultural norms with ability to work with international partners, diverse teams and across organizations and coalitions 
• Professional, clear and concise written and oral communication skills with a variety of audiences
• Experience with and/or education in any of the following: wastewater management, sanitation, water pollution, coastal and marine conservation, natural resource management and/or policy, social campaigns
• Interest in being a team player in a fast-paced, lean startup environment.
• Successful candidates have familiarity and comfort with Google apps, Slack, Zoom, Mailchimp, Miro/Mural and/or other online collaboration and communication platforms.
• Some experience or passion for graphic design and communications is highly desirable, but not required. 
• Some experience with social media management is highly desirable, but not required.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Remote office
• Flexible working arrangements and work schedule with occasional ability to work outside U.S. business hours
• As pandemic conditions allow, travel to events 
• Reports to Ocean Sewage Alliance Executive Director
• Network Coordinator will be supported by the Executive Director, OSA Steering Committee and Multiplier  
• Full-time, two year position with potential for extension
