The Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Brand and Integrated Marketing will contribute to the development of UWBAs brand voice, messaging alignment to our audiences and will orchestrate a variety of seasonal, workplace and ad hoc campaigns designed to advance our mission and drive engagement with donors, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders. This senior manager will be responsible for managing the overall marketing project schedule for the United Way Bay Area Marketing Department, providing high quality account management to internal and external clients, ensuring accurate expression of the UWBA brand and our community impact through print, digital and social media. This individual will be highly proficient at messaging, copywriting, collateral production, web content and management, and direction of day-to-day marketing operations. The position requires a self-motivated, forward-thinking, strategic individual with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Candidate must have strong organization and communication skills, have a low ego-to-talent ratio and be team oriented, provide clear direction, and work in a consultative role with internal and external clients. This position works with internal clients to shape marketing and communications strategies, in addition to shaping various forms of content across all communication channels. This position will also manage certain vendor and agency relationships, and ultimately manage a content specialist.

What you’ll do:

 Brand Management

·        Contribute to the development of our brand identity by building an understanding of our audiences, market perceptions, UWBA value proposition and competitive positioning.

·        Build messaging architecture which uniquely positions UWBA as a regional non-profit (or social impact) partner of choice resulting in high levels of awareness, understanding, and engagement across our constituent base.

·        Infuse our messaging strategy into the production of all campaign assets, content and marketing collateral for our inbound and outbound marketing initiatives, workplace campaigns, programs in our service portfolio, and other designated campaigns or initiatives.

·        Ensure that materials meet brand standards and are consistent with United Way Worldwide, United Way of the Bay Area and our sub-brands guidelines such as SparkPoint and Earn It! Keep It! Save It!

·        Support earned and digital media and PR efforts as needed

Project Management

·        Assist in developing strategy, plan and scope (marketing strategy, creative brief, project plan, timeline and budget) for projects of all sizes

·        Oversee and make strategic decisions throughout project life cycle, including prioritizing, balancing, and integrating feedback from multiple stakeholders and clients

·        Proactively identify and troubleshoot potential issues during the project lifecycle.

·        Manage project flow for marketing campaigns including donor outreach, program initiatives and public policy campaigns

·        Manage production process, solicit feedback, consolidate and prioritize revisions, and work with leadership to secure approvals

·        Serve as lead in managing team workflow best practices

·        Regularly track and communicate project information on scope, budget and timing to extended team

·        Ensure changing resource and project requirements are communicated and understood by

all members of the team and supporting departments.

·        Oversee, analyze existing project processes and procedures, and recommend operational improvements.

Serve as part of quality control team on all marketing projects and deliverables

Content Development

  • Manage and maintain editorial calendar for web, newsletters, e-blasts, blog working in conjunction with the Marketing team
  • Produce and edit content that is distributed through multiple channels for both internal and external audiences including blogs, digital and social media
  • Work across departments to develop storytelling efforts, coordinating and conducting interviews and producing content from beneficiaries, donors and partners

·        Manage creative vendors, including graphic designers and videographers to take projects from concept to final product including timeline, budget, production schedule, content development, approvals, etc.

  • Serve as copyeditor on marketing materials 
  • Serve as a member of the UWBA editorial committee
  • Ensure marketing materials are reviewed using a diversity, equity and inclusion lens 

Event Marketing

  • Support UWBA events, project managing event content for print and digital platforms, coordinating marketing collateral
  • Manage external vendors and agencies as needed (such as designers, writers, photographers, videographers)

Who you are:

·        6-8 years’ experience in marketing and project management; at least 2 years of people management experience preferred

·        Deep understanding of marketing, project management, branding and communication systems

·        Excellent communication skills to understand appropriate messaging and tone for key audiences

·        Ability to manage and motivate staff including providing clear direction and managing workflows.

·        Results oriented with strong initiative, accountability, and willingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion. Acts quickly and decisively.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proofreading ability

·        Ability to strategize, plan and tactically execute

·        Proactive approach to learning new processes, systems and tools quickly 

·        Monitor latest marketing and project management trends and best practices, and make recommendations to enhance UWBA overall marketing outreach

·        Possess working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce Social Studio and Marketing Cloud, Facebook Insights and Google AnalyticsMonday.com or similar

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 - Exempt
