Nonprofit Development Assistant


Job Description:

The Development Assistant works closely with The Center for Wooden Boats’ (CWB) Development Director to provide strong stewardship of CWB’s members, donors, and sponsors. This Development Assistant will work on-site at our Wagner Education Center in Lake Union Park, Seattle. The CWB work environment is highly productive yet informal and requires strong teamwork and flexibility. The ideal candidate is motivated, project-oriented, committed to accuracy, and cares about CWB’s work in the community.


Duties include:

  • Membership processing
  • Distributing member renewal notices
  • Preparing donor acknowledgement letters
  • Some copywriting (in support of duties listed above)
  • General database work (reconciling duplicate donor records, updating contact info, etc.)
  • Assist with prep for our annual fundraising Auction (Spring), year-end appeal (Fall), and other periodic events


Skills and Experiences:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Supreme attention to detail
  • Strong experience with spreadsheets
  • Proven customer service and organizational skills
  • Sincere interest in CWB’s mission


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working as part of a development team
  • Proficiency with donor tracking software (Altru/Blackbaud experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with communications software such as MailChimp
  • Experience coordinating events


Other:

  • Work schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends.
  • The position is part time, 10-15 hours a week on average. Room to grow for the right candidate
  • Hourly wage $20/hr.
