EntreMundos is a Guatemalan organization, founded in Quetzaltenango in 2001 with the purpose of strengthening the capacities and competencies of community organizations, grassroots groups and local NGOs in order to provide them the necessary skills, tools and methodologies to improve their institutional performance, and create networks, collaborations and synergies between them. EntreMundos believes that by reinforcing the knowledge of these actors, civil society will benefit the communities where they operate, increasing the impact of the projects and programs they carry out in their different areas of intervention.


The institution has a database of more than 950 community and grassroots organizations throughout the country that operate in different areas of work, such as health, education, economic empowerment, rights and gender, justice, among others. EntreMundos supports the strengthening of these organizations and their communities, through the following lines of work:


1. The Training Program (by Workshops in different subjects and Computer Courses)

2. The Small Grants Program

3. The Volunteer Program (nationally and internationally)

4. The bimonthly and bilingual magazine "EntreMundos"

5. The sector of Good Practices in Community Tourism


Through 17 years of work, EntreMundos has reached high levels of experience, knowledge, acceptance and credibility thanks to the work it has developed through its own funds and contributions from international donors. Currently, EntreMundos is a nationally recognized institution and has acquired strong leadership, becoming a point of reference, recognition and representativeness of vital importance for grassroots groups, community associations and local NGOs.


DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:


As mentioned above, EntreMundos has grown and is presenting the need and demand to approach new technical and financial donors that can support the processes of community strengthening that continue to be implemented. EntreMundos needs to raise funds in a demanding and competitive environment, and in a context where Guatemala and organizational and community strengthening are not considered priority areas for intervention and support for many national and international organizations. However, we have a strong conviction that the work we do is very important to achieve a substantial change in the lives of Guatemalans. For the above, EntreMundos will be hiring a person who can work with our organization for 5 months, with the aim of collaborating directly in fundraising which will allow us to continue working together with our partner organizations in a better way.


The fundraising officer and grants writer must perform the following functions:


1) Detect new funding opportunities for EntreMundos through virtual grant platforms to develop proposals (along with the director and coordinator) and constantly monitor these proposals.


2) Identify international cooperation donors in Guatemala that can support EntreMundos, developing relations and strategies of approach; exposition of the programs of our organization, as well as elaboration and presentation of grants proposals for this donors.


3) Identify companies / entities / private donors, that can support EntreMundos, developing relations and strategies of approach; exposition of the programs of our organization, as well as elaboration and presentation of grant proposals for these donors.


4) Responsible for the promotion, visibility and institutional publicity for the collection of funds through the web page and social networks of EntreMundos, supporting in the elaboration of messages, definition of the narrative strategy and advertising "slogan" by means of collection platforms.


5) Create strategic alliances and approach other potential partner organizations (synergies, collaborations and coalitions with other institutions to optimize the use of EntreMundos resources.)


6) Support in the translation from Spanish to English reports for EntreMundos donors, and in the translation of some institutional documents.


REQUIREMENTS:


University education, preferably in a field related to development.


Indispensable: Native speaker of the English language, or with excellent communication and writing skills in this language. Level of intermediate or advanced Spanish.


Responsible, motivated, extroverted and creative person with analysis, writing and management skills with great oral communication skills and persuasion, able to work as a team and independently.


Preferably, with previous experience in fundraising and preparation of grant proposals.


Computer competence, especially in the management of Microsoft Office, emails, online collection platforms.


It will be considered as an advantage: fluency in Spanish, previous work experience in Guatemala, driver's license, excellent management of social networks, blogs and website, and the availability to start working in early August 2018.
