Introduction:

The International Society of Nephrology (ISN) is seeking a dynamic, internet-savvy international health organizer to help lead the development of the ISN member and nephrology community and implement the network’s engagement and participation strategy via the ISN’s education, event and social media platforms. The Community Manager will develop and manage outreach efforts including organization of community/member events and activities at scientific conferences and creation and maintenance of web and social media presence to promote awareness of ISN activities.

Location: Remote/Telework with office co-location possible in Brussels. Colleagues located Worldwide. 


Overall Job Responsibility:


The person should take on the following tasks:


ISN Member Community Management:

• Assure ISN members’ active and dynamic participation across the ISN’s new online education platforms, the ISN Academy, and other means as needed. 

• Recruit, engage and service ISN members, working towards the growth of virtual communities. 

• Collaborate with team members across ISN departments (Programs, Events, Education), as well as the ISN’s group of volunteer social-media savvy nephrologists (@ISNeducation) to ensure proper messaging relevancy, consistency across all social media channels and drive long-term success of the nephrology community.

• Work with the ISN’s Young Nephrology Committee and social media volunteer group of nephrologists, @ISNeducation, to develop and execute live-tweeting events of popular nephrology conferences around the world, the primary event being the ISN’s World Congress of Nephrology. 

• Work with these groups to develop other resources and activities that will engage and support members, such as implementation tools, webinars, awards programs, reporting and measurement systems, case studies and more


Partner Engagement: 

• Develop relationships with nephrology community organizations, advocacy groups, and support groups for patients and caregivers to expand on the ISN community and achieve goals together.


Reporting: 

• Be the Voice of ISN Membership and an internal advocate for community members’ interests. Listen and analyze the Voice of the Member and share insights with the organization.

• Generate regular reports of community activity. Supports end users of the community site and assist in analyzing user feedback, and topic trends for improving ISN community engagement.


Communication: 

• Assist in the implementation and fine tuning of the ISN’s Social Media Strategy.

• Help manage ISN’s social media and public presence.

The successful candidate is highly motivated by the ISN's philanthropic mission and fully dedicated to helping ISN make a difference and have an impact. He/she demonstrates the following experience and competencies:


Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in community management and/or social media management.

• Strong social media skills and experience. Exposure to Salesforce or similar community management platforms a plus. 

• Experience working on Global Health, Healthcare and/or Nephrology issues is a strong asset

• Native English speaker or equivalent, with excellent writing skills. Multiple languages and cultural competencies a big plus.

• Ability to understand general technical and healthcare concepts in order to apply them to coordination activities.

• Strong organizing and people skills.

• Ability to work in a team and independently.


Additionally, the Community Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and interact positively and effectively with members, partners and coworkers. S/he must be highly motivated, organized and demonstrate strong time management skills. Fluency in MS Office Suite is essential. The Community Manager must be able to initiate and follow through on projects, solve problems and meet deadlines with limited supervision. S/he must possess tact, diplomacy, a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure.

- Ability to interact with a broad range of audiences including patients from diverse backgrounds, advocates, doctors, academic researchers, staff and administrators at a range of organizations.


Benefits

With colleagues located worldwide, the ISN has a flexible policy in terms of working hours and location; Remote/Telework is possible, as well as in the ISN main office in Brussels, Belgium. Although free to work in their own timezone, colleagues shoul be prepared for the occasional teleconference slightly outside of the typical 9-5 day. The professional has to choice of working as an employee or under freelance contract.

Level of Language Proficiency
