Who We Are:
The Alliance for Decision Education (“The Alliance'') is a non-profit education organization leading the growing call to have decision-making skills, or Decision Education, taught in schools K-12 across the country. Our work is backed by a growing number of educators, parents, researchers, and industry leaders who have seen Decision Education improve students’ lives and the lives of those around them. Our mission is to improve lives by empowering students with essential decision skills.
The Decision Education Fellowship:
The Alliance is pleased to open our third annual Decision Education Fellowship to middle and high school teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. This year-long Fellowship experience seeks to build professional learning communities of educators who are excited to learn about Decision Education, feel passionate about its inclusion in schools, and want to help us study the impact of Decision Education on students.
Level 1 Fellows work in a course-like environment to learn about the 4 Domains of Decision Education - Recognizing and Resisting Cognitive Biases, Valuing and Applying Rationality, Thinking Probabilistically, and Structuring Decisions - while simultaneously collaborating with other fellows to pilot classroom activities and lessons that help students improve their decision-making skills. From September 2022 to June 2023, Level 1 Fellows will participate in asynchronous learning activities, live virtual meetings, and lesson implementation in their classrooms. The Fellowship will begin with a 2.5-day, in-person orientation in Philadelphia, PA from August 3-5, 2022 with travel, lodging, and some meals provided by the Alliance.
The Level 1 application is open to all public, private, charter, and parochial middle and high school educators with either a full- or part-time teaching load in any content area. Fellows must be able to attend all meetings, including the in-person orientation, and must be able to implement one Decision Education lesson per month in their classrooms. To help us better understand the student learning experience as it relates to Decision Education, Fellows will administer student surveys and questionnaires and collect and share student work.
Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend over the course of the 2022-2023 school year.
*The Fellowship is not an employment opportunity with the Alliance for Decision Education.
