Reporting to:  CEO 

Salary Range:  $70,000 - $80,000 [DOE]

Additionally, Family Equality is working hard to ensure that DEI&B is a part of our DNA. We have also formed a “Radical Transformation of Work Life Structure” group that has been working together for two months, along with a Culture Club that will kick off in 2022 helping to vision, implement, shape and share our internal work culture that is equitable and inclusive.

Position Summary:

Family Equality is a distributed organization, with employees throughout the country. The Director of People Operations is a key member of the Executive team and works closely with the Chief of Staff [CoS] and Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

People

  • Develop, implement, assess and improve the candidate and employee journey [recruitment and hiring,onboarding/offboarding practices for staff and interns, contribute to shaping sustainable DEI+B efforts];
  • Serve as the primary point-person for employee inquiries and personnel-related concerns;
  • Identify innovative new relationships with key partners, networks and coalitions that can help achieve Family Equality’s operational goals;

Process

  • Serve as the primary liaison for Family Equality’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO) vendor, which is currently contracted through a third party known as Insperity;
  • Identify, recommend and implement operational improvements intended to streamline people strategy processes and procedures;
  • Maintain all personnel policies and procedures and provide guidance and interpretation to staff as needed;
  • Establish and manage relevant budgets, collaborating closely with CEO, CoS and Chief Financial Officer;
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and advancements, making recommendations to the CEO/CoS for improvement of organization’s policies, procedures and operational practices;

Technology

  •  Establish and maintain clear, responsive and accessible IT support systems across the organization, including the setting of best practices for maximum cyber security and managing relationships with IT support vendors - IT support is currently contracted through a third party known as Longi Engineering;
  • Oversee the organization’s Office 365 platform, managing all user accounts, licenses, distribution lists, security groups, SharePoint permissions, and overall security processes;

General  

  • Represent Family Equality and its mission in the community by attending occasional external events on behalf of the organization;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer and/or the Chief of Staff 

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must enjoy a fast-paced environment, be highly organized without losing sight of larger objectives, and be committed to justice and equality for LGBTQ+ families. 

●   A bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Resources or a related discipline preferred – an advanced degree, such as an MPA (Master of Public Administration), a plus, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;

●   An impeccable sense of discretion at all times, especially when under pressure; Ability to apply sound judgement skills when giving, denying or asking for information and conducting internal and/or external operations;

●   Demonstrated experience building healthy and productive organizational culture, along with an  ability to think “big picture” in operations, as well as skills to translate those ideas into realistic, actionable plans;;

●   Adaptable and able to adjust and contribute to a continually evolving work environment and ever-changing and evolving priorities while prioritizing multiple tasks in a timely, efficiently and flexible manner;

●   Exceptional writing, verbal and interpersonal skills, keen analytical skills and attention to detail, excellent computer skills, with a specific proficiency with MS Office applications;

●   Ability to collaborate on projects with staff from across departments, and a high level of personal investment in contributing to the overall organizational priorities;

This position requires minimal travel [approximately 3-4 times/year].
