Description

The goal of this position is to increase access to private market owned rental property for persons involved with the YWCA’s Rapid Rehousing Programs. The Landlord Outreach Specialist’s primary role is to reach out and build relationships with private market landlords.  The Landlord Outreach Specialist will identify permanent housing units in the private rental market throughout King County including Seattle, develop partnerships with landlords to overcome barriers that prevent homeless people from obtaining permanent housing, maintain an up-to-date listing of available units and work closely with case managers from the Rapid Rehousing Programs to ensure clients can access housing.  In addition, this position will mediate conflicts, assist with landlord education and provide short term crisis services for landlords to resolve problems if they arise.

The Rapid Rehousing Programs are part of the YWCA Homeless Initiatives Department; which is part of the Specialized and Integrated Services Division of the YWCA. These programs have a reputation in the community for providing culturally competent services with particular emphasis on serving homeless and low-income families and individuals. Valuing diversity and championing anti-racism policy and program delivery are core values.

This position has a social justice component that requires critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principals of antiracism and grounding those principles in everyday work are required job skills and core values. As an equal opportunity employer, we highly encourage people of color to apply.
