The Associate Director, Market-Based Conservation is a member of MarketLab, a unique function within The Nature Conservancy’s California chapter that harnesses the power of markets to unlock greater investment in conservation MarketLab’s work falls into three pillars:
The Associate Director, Market-Based Conservation will lead MarketLab’s work on designing market interventions (Pillar 2), applying a strategy consulting skillset in a conservation context. MarketLab is a small and innovative group within TNC that the Associate Director will have the opportunity to directly shape. The ideal candidate is highly analytical with skills in business strategy, problem solving, project management and stakeholder engagement.
The Associate Director, Market-Based Conservation leads a body of work focused on creating innovative market-based tools to achieve TNC California’s mission across the chapter’s Land, Oceans, Water and Cities teams. The work includes identifying opportunities for market-based interventions, assessing their feasibility, designing their implementation, proving them for maximum impact, and scaling them more broadly across TNC and partner organizations. The Associate Director brings sophisticated business and strategy expertise to various and matrixed teams within California, as well as external partners, working collaboratively to develop new tools. The Associate Director leverages their own skillset as well as external resources (e.g., consulting, pro bono, industry), to expand TNC’s capacity to create mechanisms that incentivize conservation.
