What do you do all day?

At NMSI, our people mean everything to us; they are the lifeblood of the organization. Without our staff, NMSI is just an idea. As a critical member of NMSI’s Teaching & Learning team, the Manager of STEM Solutions & Partnerships manages the day-to-day execution of partnerships and services that expand the impact of NMSI’s Remote Learning Hub Project in Alabama. The Project seeks to reimagine how STEM education is delivered, especially in hard-to-reach, high poverty, or traditionally under-served locations.

The Manager reports to the Senior Manager, STEM Solutions & Partnerships. This full-time role is based out of a home office in Alabama, preferably in the Birmingham area, with travel to partner sites or other locations as needed. The physical hub that houses remote teachers is stationed in Birmingham, as are several implementation partners who are essential to Project delivery.

What are the details?

·        Administer the daily operations of the Remote Learning Hub Project and implement the Project’s design and delivery strategy in Alabama.

·        Manage the execution of services associated with delivering the Remote Hub model.

·        Manage partner organization’s programming to guarantee alignment and quality.

·        Monitor and coordinate the delivery of the partners’ services to guarantee quality and alignment with NMSI’s core programs and organizational values.

·        Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to cultivate and recruit educators and schools to participate in the Project, with the long-term goal of connecting higher education institutions, K-12 districts, and state and local STEM organizations in an aligned approach to delivering innovative math instruction across districts and grade levels

·        Support local school educators and stakeholders to implement NMSI and partner programming through continued communication, goal-setting, and clear expectations

·        Provide family and community engagement orientations in local schools upon request

·        Partner with internal teams, including the Program Delivery and Operations, Technology, and Marketing Communications teams, to help ensure districts and schools we serve to receive the best possible service and support

·        Other duties as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Experience – At least three years of K-12 STEM teaching experience required, math instruction preferred. And at least three years of proven experience managing STEM education programming at the district/network level or school administration or nonprofit management experience is also preferred
  • Organized & Productive – You are a master at project planning and managing multiple priorities. You don’t let distractions prevent you from meeting goals
  • Skilled Communicator – You can tailor your communication to multiple audiences; you are a concise, compelling writer. You can speak compellingly about our mission to create lasting change in school systems and to provide greater access and opportunity to students furthest from opportunity is required.
  • Entrepreneurial—You are an out-of-the-box thinker and a self-starter who is driven to meet and surpass ambitious goals in the service of student outcomes
  • Growth Mindset – You learn from failure and crave feedback because you know that it makes you better; you are also eager to give feedback to your manager, team, and colleagues
  • Flexible – You are comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with competing priorities
  • Inclusive – You can work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or job type—or any other factor that makes us unique!
  • Reliable transportation—You have access to reliable transportation to visit schools and partners across the state.
  • Sense of Humor – You don’t take yourself too seriously; work hard, play hard is your mantra
