Who are we looking for?

College Track is searching for motivated, committed, and creative leaders who steadfastly believe that all students are born with the potential to graduate from college. These leaders must be devoted to working relentlessly to ensure that all College Track students develop the skills needed to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Coaches will be individuals who thrive on challenges and opportunities and have the ability to connect at a deep level with the students and the work. This role is especially impactful for current college students, recent college graduates, and prospective graduate students seeking hands-on experience in the youth development, non-profit, or education fields.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the College Access Director (CAD), the College Admissions and Writing Coach is responsible for supporting the vision and implementation of the College program, ensuring that all students complete competitive and well-rounded college applications to Best Fit Colleges across California and the United States. CACs work with the CAD to successfully implement the College Access (CA) program and ensure that departmental goals are met in the following program components: 

• 12th-grade college application completion and submission
• Ensuring students submit quality college essay
• Supporting student college exploration and college list development for 11th grades. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Work no less than 20-24 hours per week, primarily between 1:00PM-7:30PM Mondays-Thursdays, with the potential for some Friday and Saturday work. 
• Manage caseloads of students in meeting their programmatic goals, applying for colleges, and developing their college essays.
• Support the College Access Director with recurring departmental and site-wide events, and affordability/financial applications.
• Complete administrative and operational tasks including, but not limited to, workshop facilitation, maintaining the space, taking attendance, student application support and documentation, contacting parents and families, and data entry.
• Meet regularly with the College Access Director to discuss student progress.
• Other projects and bodies of work as assigned by the SLD or Site Director.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Demonstrated success in motivating and managing high school students of diverse backgrounds to meet high expectations in college essay writing, college search, and college application completion - or similar experience. 
• Builds strong relationships and communicates in ways that foster trust, values differences, and further College Track’s mission
• Focuses on delivering outcomes despite obstacles, seeks out challenges as opportunities to grow, takes unexpected setbacks in stride, and is able to galvanize self towards goals and impact
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage diverse projects
• Ability to work independently and take initiative and ownership over assigned bodies of work
• Obtained or working towards a 4-year degree

Compensation & Benefits

$18.00 Hourly, commensurate with experience.
