Position Summary:

Our organization is expanding and our Development department is growing. As an integral member of the fund development team and working cross departmentally with the programs and communications/marketing teams, the Annual Fund Officer is responsible for growing and expanding member and donor base (gifts under $1,000) through outward facing communications campaigns and park events. In addition, this key development team member works closely with the Development Director to execute two major special events including the Party for the Parks gala in September and the Annual Parks, Cities and People Breakfast in March. This role and its responsibilities intersects with all areas of the Annual Fund.

Job Description:

Reports to:    Director of Development

Status:            Full-time/Exempt

Schedule:       regular workday business hours, including evening and weekends for scheduled membership and development events

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

Membership Program Strategy and Management (50%)

  • Develop and implement strategies for comprehensive member engagement, growth and retention
  • Plan and manage all aspects of renewal, new acquisition, existing recruitment, and appeal campaigns including year end for both digital and mail appeals
  • Be the program face and represent the Parks Alliance at public outreach and engagement events
  • Manage the Membership Program budget (income and expense)
  • Work closely with Development Associate on membership fulfillment and acknowledgement
  • Partner with SF Recreation and Park Department on member benefit events such as Eggstravaganza, Scaregrove, and others
  • Develop a communication plan for member base. Ensure consistency, quality, and timeliness of membership communications

Special Events Support and Management (40%)

  • With guidance from the Director of Development, manage event timeline, administration, external and internal communications
  • Partner with outside event consultants on the Party for the Parks annual gala
  • Support administrative work (e.g. graphic design, internal communications, venue relations, speaker coordination) in conjunction with Director of Development for:
  • Annual gala (Party for the Parks)
  • Spring Breakfast Lecture (Annual Parks, Cities and People Breakfast)
  • Playground Renovation Campaign (Let’sPlay SF! cultivation and ribbon cutting events)
  • Others events as assigned

Major Gifts Administration Support (10%)

  • Help administrate major gifts portfolio in support of the Director of Leadership Gifts, Director of Development, CEO, Board and other fundraising volunteers
  • When needed, research prospects to be added to portfolio

Experience and Qualifications

Experience and demonstrated success in social impact organization to include:

  • Track record of supporting a flourishing individual giving and/or membership program in a fast-paced environment
  • Managing relationships with outside contractors, vendors and partners to achieve desired outcomes
  • Managing multi-phase projects from inception to completion and balancing
  • concurrent priorities
  • Solving problems creatively and strategically and using research and data analysis to make recommendations and program changes
  • Working with fundraising database programs (familiarity with Raiser’s Edge/Luminate and/or other CRM system preferred) as well as Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office software
  • Excellent demonstrated writing and oral presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Must be able to engage in a range of physical activity, including standing or sitting at a desk or computer and walking (sometimes on uneven surfaces) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb a flight of stairs and lift/carry up to 25 pounds
